Show Area ? t Obituaries J Ktirl WoolWy ESCALANTE Earl Woolsey, 88, died Saturday. He was born Mary 23, 1892, Escalante, to James Brigham and Tyresha Mary Myers Woolsey. He was married to Lavern Hardy in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple, Oct. 3, 1917. She died Oct. 29, 1959. He then married Nethella King Griffin, June IS, 1960. He was a veteran of World War I, member in the Garfield LDS Stake High Council; served in the Escalante North Ward LDS Bishopric for 25 years; member, Hole in the Rock Chapter of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers, member Escalante Sta'ke High Priest Quorum and was an artist. Survivors: widow, Escalante; sons, daughter, Mrs. Homer (Earline) Nelson, Green River; Mrs. Howard (Marjorle) Shurtz, Sacramento, Calif.; Hal J. Woolsey, Kearns; Merlo Haynes Woolsey, Escalante; Klint B. Woolsey, Lay ton; sister, Mrs. Blanche Deuel, Kearns; one stepson and stepdaughter, Richard V. Griffin, Ogden; Mrs. Howard. (Laverd) Lar-sen, Gunnison; 29 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Escalante LDS Chapel with Bishop Lynn Gates officiating. Hal J. Woolsey offered the family prayer and Areola Gates played prelude and postlude music. Music included an organ medley by Renee Woolsey and a musical selection by Hal Shurtz and Co. Christine Tatman offered the benediction. Burial was in the Escalante Cemetery by Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Richfield, where Klint B. Woolsey offered the dedicatory prayer. Military rites were by the Escalante American Legion Post. Pallbearers were Bruce E. Nelson, Richard Tatman, Douglas Shurtz, Gordon W. Woolsey, Eric G. Woolsey and Danny Woolsey. Honorary pallbearers were Thomas K. Woolsey, Alan E. Woolsey, Brian S. Woolsey, Harold W. Nelson, Randy H. Nelson, Merlo K. Woolsey and Ross Woolsey. Donald L. Griffin ESCALANTE Donald Layne Griffin, 29, died Saturday, He was born Mar. 13, 1951, Provo, to Donald and Darlene Porter Griffin. He was married to Marilee Curtis, July 11, 1969, in Provo. He was a graduate of Provo High School and past employee of the Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Co. Survivors: widow, two sons, daughter, Donald Scott Griffin, Casey Griffin, Michael Griffin; parents; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Orland (Whitey) Porter; brother, two sisters, Randy Lynn Griffin, Mrs. Lana - Mitchell, Mrs. Lance (Diane) Coleman, all Escalante. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Escalante LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Ward Chapel one hour prior to service time. Burial is in the Escalante Cemetery by Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Richfield. |
