Eighty-three year old Franklin Hansen and his wife, Jean, were married November 29, 1933, in the Manti LDS Temple. He was born in Richfield and reared in Boulder where he also spent most of his married life. He is a son of Christian A. Hensen, and one of nine children. He graduated from Richfield High School and attended the University of Utah, receiving his bachelor of science in education. He and his wife were married while he was completing his education. He taught school for 17 years at the elementary level in Garfield County and when he retired, he continued cattle ranching full time in Boulder full time. He has enjoyed playing the violin for many years and has derived a special pleasure from playing for dances in his younger years. Jean Dodds Hansen is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Dodds, Panguitch. She was reared in Panguitch with one brother and a sister. She graduated from Garfield County High School and then attended Brigham Young University where she received a BS in education. For 42 years she taught the youngsters in elementary school in Garfield County and says she always enjoyed the kindergarteners most. She has been a member of the Business and Professional Women and enjoys quilting for a hobby. Both she and her husband have been active members of the LDS Church. Not too long ago, they moved from their ranch at Boulder to Panguitch. While they have never had children of their own, they feel their "children" are scattered all over the United States now, with many still here in Garfield County all the children they taught in school over their long teaching careers. |
