Show firea Obituaries Irene Munson TROPIC Sarah Irene Johnson John-son Munson, 88, of Tropic, died Feb. 28, 1997 in St. George. She was born Apr. 24, 1908 in Tropic, to John H. and Estella Ahlstrom Johnson. She married Silas Hubert Munson, Aug. 24, 1928 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Irene was an excellent seamstress, seam-stress, making special dresses and quilt tops for granddaughters and neighbors for years. She served as work director under four different Relief Society presidents. Her other great love was flowers and the time she spent with them. She and Silas lived in Los Angeles from 1928 to 1947, then returned to Tropic. She is survived by, husband, Silas Si-las of Tropic; children, Donald J. and Dixie Munson, St. George; Alan Hubert Munson, Verlyn Irene Munson, both of Tropic; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; grandchil-dren; brother, Bernard H. Johnson, Farmington. She was preceded in death by parents, sisters: Zona Hall, Ina Adair, Flora LeFevre; two foster brothers: Eldon "Dutch" Brinkerhoff Kline Porter Bampv ESCALANTESALT LAKE CITY Kline Porter Barney, age 88, left the trials of this life to rejoin re-join his wife Doris on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1997 from Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo. His release was quick and painless after several years of lessons in patience. He was born Aug. 29, 1908 in Escalante, Garfield County, Utah, a son of George Henry and Edith Porter Por-ter Barney. He married Doris Lyle Nielson in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple Feb. 19, 1932. She beckoned beck-oned to him on their 65th wedding anniversary, but we weren't quite ready to let him go. He's yours again now, Mom. His testimony of Jesus Christ and devotion to the gospel never wavered and his knowledge of the scriptures was legendary. Called to an LDS bishopric in his 20's, he later worked long and hard as ward and stake clerk and for 19 years on the East Mill . Creek Stake High Council. In 1977-79 he served with Doris in the Ohio-Columbus Mission, a life-long desire. He was proud of his pioneer ancestry, active in genealogical work, and a supportive suppor-tive life member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers. He was valedictorian of the Escalante Es-calante High School class of 1927 and attended Branch Agricultural College in Cedar City and Henager Business College in Salt Lake City. Serving the Accounting Division Di-vision of the Utah State Tax Commission for almost four decades, dec-ades, twenty-five years as its Director, Direc-tor, he was a valued adviser to numerous nu-merous governors. Ryan Christopher Vidrine RIVERTON Our beloved son, brother and grandson was called home to his Heavenly Father February 28, 1997 due to a traffic accident. He was born May 31, 1978 in Mt. Pleasant Utah to Martin A. and Deborah Jan Reed Vidrine. Ryan loved computers and music, mu-sic, he liked to make people laugh with his jokes and sense of humor. He was a joy to be around. Ryan your bright smile will be greatly missed. Graduated from Bingham Irene Munson and Vee Cope. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Mar. 8, 1997 at 1 p.m. in the Tropic LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Tropic Cemetery. Preceded in death by his wife, Doris; a son, Jeffrey Christian; and three brothers, broth-ers, Alma Wayne, Edgar Rex and Glen Gardner Barney. Thanks to many who helped him through the last years, especially espe-cially Community nurse Jeanne Borget, almost a family member. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sat-urday, Mar. 1, in Salt Lake City. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens. High School, active in the LDS Church and looked forward to serving serv-ing a mission in the summer. He is survived by his parents of Riverton; two brothers, Tyson A. and Andrew S. both of Riverton; grandparents, Bill and Clorene Vidrine, Escalante; Mrs. Margie Reed, Riverton; great-grandfather, Wanless Alvey, Escalante; and many family and friends. , He was preceded in death by grandfather, Miles Reed and great-grandmother, great-grandmother, Dena Alvey. Funeral services were held Tuesday Tues-day at 1 1 a.m. at the Riverton 8th Ward. |
