Show f fjREH OBITUARIES ) LoRell Munson ESCALANTE LoRell Munson, Mun-son, 64, of Escalante died December Decem-ber 17, 1992 of a cardiac arrest while gathering wood on Boulder Mountain. Born July 23, 1928 in Escalante, he was the son of Lewis Leo and Hortense Cope Munson. He married Nelda Twitchell on March 6, 1950 in the Manti LDS Temple. He spent his life in church service, ser-vice, including the offices of bishop, bish-op, stake president, and temple ordinance or-dinance worker and was currently serving in the Escalante 1st Ward Bishopric. As owner and operator of Munson Mun-son Grocery for 22 years, he enjoyed en-joyed serving and visiting with his customers. He was a hard worker and had a keen sense of responsibility responsibil-ity and dedication to his family. He had six children and 21 grandchildren. grandchil-dren. His family was his pride and joy. He had an abundant love for others, especially his sweetheart, Nelda and they gratefully return that love to him. He is survived by his wife, Nelda, Escalante, four sons and two daughters, and their spouses: Daryl LoRell and Phyllis Munson, Clare-mont, Clare-mont, Calif.; Maureen Estelle and Dee Nelson, Woods Cross; Stanford Stan-ford Lovell and Lori Munson, Trenton; Reed Leo and Karen Munson, Mun-son, Escalante; Barbara Ellen Munson, Mun-son, Provo; Milan Glen Munson, Claremont, Calif., and 21 grandchildren. grand-children. Also surviving are five sisters and three brothers and their spouses; spous-es; Voyle and Lillian Munson and Mrs. Doyle (LoRee) Shurtz, both of Bountiful; Mrs. Kim (Evelyn) Lay, Mesa, Ariz.; Mrs. Hal (Lasca) Woolsey, Kearns; Mrs. Kemp (Or-pha) (Or-pha) Spencer, Mesa, Ariz.; Lloyd and Faye Munson, Laie, Hawaii; Howard Vee and LaNia, Cedar City; and Mrs. Elwood (Vaunda) Willis, Glenwood. He is preceded in death by his parents and three children. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 22, at the Escalante LDS 1st Ward Chapel with Bishop Marc McLemore presiding and Bishop Reed L. Munson officiating. i LoRell Munson Milan Munson offered the family prayer prior to the opening of the service and Susan Wilson provided prelude and postlude music. Bishop Reed L. Munson offered welcoming remarks with Stan Munson providing the invocation. A vocal selection "A Child's Prayer" was rendered by Nathan, Mary Ann, Michelle, Melanie and Marie Munson followed by a eulogy eu-logy from Barbara Munson. The grandchildren performed a vocal selection "I Am A Child Of God," followed by speaker Voyle Munson and remarks by Bishop Marc McLemore. A musical selection "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" was sung by Mavis Munson. The benediction was offered by Vemon Spencer. Pallbearers were Dee Nelson, Kim Lay, Howard Munson, Howard How-ard Miller, Nathan Munson, Hal Woolsey, Lloyd Munson, Ken Packer and Doyle "Park" Shurtz. Honorary pallbearers were Corey Nelson, Garrett Nelson, Farley "Lee" Lestari, Tyson Munson, MeRell Munson, Michael Munson, Daniel Munson, David Munson, Elwood Willis, and Kemp Spencer. Compassionate services and flowers were provided by Escalante 1st Ward Relief Society Sisters. Interment was in the Escalante Cemetery where Daryl Munson dedicated the grave. All arrangements arrange-ments were under the direction of Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Mor-tuary, Richfield. Dee Fred Houston PANGUITCH Dee Fred Houston, 73, died December 20, 1992 at his home in Panguitch. He was born February 9, 1919 in Panguitch to James Frank and Roene Syrett Houston. He married Dorthy Mae Ward October 29, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. An active member of the IDS Church, he worked in the MIA and later served as president, a counselor coun-selor in the bishopric and on the high council. He graduated from Panguitch High and attended USAC and . 5 y Dee F. Houston BYU. He was named Jaycee Outstanding Out-standing Young Man in 1947. Houston was civic minded and served his community as a member of the city council, fireman, fire chief, and was active in the Jaycees. In August of 1991, together with his wife and family, he celebrated his Golden Wedding Anniversary at Bear Lake. He worked in and managed the SUE Market in Panguitch with his sister Fern for nearly 50 years, where he especially enjoyed visiting visit-ing with his customers and tourists. He is survived by his wife Dorthy, Dor-thy, Panguitch, four sons and their wives: John Ward and Diane Houston, Panguitch; Dee Fred and Janet Houston, Dutch John; James Frank and JeriLu Houston, Panguitch; Pangui-tch; David George and Carol Houston and 19 grandchildren. Also surviving are seven sisters and two brothers and their spouses; Irene and Clem McEwen, St. George; Ge-orge; Fern and J.L. Crawford, St. George; Opal and Reid Miller, Panguitch; Pan-guitch; Cecile and Frank Orton, Salt Lake City; Sam and Mary Jo Houston, Hous-ton, Sacramento, Calif.; Ray and Nadine Houston, St. Louis, Mo.; Roene and Fenn Nelson, Fullerton, Calif.; Zelda and Gene Gerstner, Ann Arbor, Mich.; Christine and Ted Owens, Dallas, Tex. and sister-in-law Tennys Houston, Washington. Washing-ton. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 28, 1992 at 1:00 p.m. in the Panguitch 2nd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the ward chapel in Panguitch on Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be held in the Panguitch Pan-guitch Cemetery. 4 |
