Show PIONEER DIES OF INJURIES funeral services wore were held saturday at at alton ton tor for jonathan heaton alio vho dred in the iron county hospital from injuries received whon he was thrown into a grader immediately following the services the deceased was taken to Orde irville whorl where he was lad in the Or derville cemetery by the side of hla his father and mother mr heaton was injured when the blade of the grader he was driving on the road near his ranch struck a rock and throw threw him into the grader bi breaking some ribs which punctured an intestine and a kidney ho called to his big son in law who was working in the field near by who took a horse to town and brought back a car in which to take the injured man home he was taken to cedar city but blood poison had set in and lie he passed away away shortly after mr heaton made the statement that hla his time tane had bad como come shortly after lid he was hurl huit some time before he had bad pu put t all his books in order jonathan heaton was born in pay son utah september 17 1869 when ho was eight years old his parents were called to the muddy mission aliey they stayed there until tho the mission was broken up then his parents followed the advice of president young and came into long lone valley where jonathan has resided ever since As a boy he was noted for being a hard worker and has the record ot of cutting five acres of corn in one day when the united order was established in Or derville he was an active member for a timo time he was foreman of the sheep but later he was made foreman of the cotton farm at washington this Is said to have been the hardest bardes t job in the order widle while I 1 in Or derville lie he married amy hoyt and to this union thirteen child yen len were lvere boyn born all of them grew to maturity and ten of them are sti still 11 living later lie he married lucy jacy carroll all of the eleven children by her are still I 1 ayr I 1 i tu 1 9 aj t 1 IS I the father ot twenty four children fifteen boys and nine girls rie ho has grandchildren and twenty eight great grand grandchildren children malting in all blood descendants lie he has ever been faithful to his family and church ho he served as counselor to bishop esplin in the br derville ward and was a member of the high council when kanab stake was first organized for his willingness and desire to help his fellow men lie he has few equals and no one who ever knew him ever heard him say evil of oc his bia fellow man he played a large part in the founding of alton and Or derville at alton lie he purchased the land and let those who desired to settle there have it at a reasonable figure I ito he to never tried to profit at his neighbors expense he always took the lead in supporting any worthy enterprise tor for the benefit of the community in which lie he lived lie he Is survived by his two wives fixes aged seventy one and sixty eight years old respectively |
