WCHC pital? Since the hospital operates the clinic, we do not allocate administrative costs to the Escalante clinic. The cost of administrator's time, billing, malpractice, etc are all in the hospital budget. Currently all that is in the Escalante department budget is the direct costs of the clinic. I am not going to take the time to try to figure out an estimated administrative cost for Escalante. GMH I would like to add a personal note - Alberto Vasquez I know many are concerned about this change. The committee has been very thoughtful and careful about this effort to convert the Escalante clinic to a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC as a satellite of Wayne Cornmunity Health Center, a FQHC. The quality of care will not change as it will be the same providers and staff. The relationship with Garfield Memorial Hospital will be the same. The FQHC/WCHC will bring additional resources that are not available through Intermountain Healthcare. The WCHC has a strong reputation and its quality of care is well documented as it is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Meeting JCAHO standards is no easy accomplishment. There are very few clinics that achieve this high standard. The conversion will bring some changes to the operations of the clinic but the changes are minor especially compared to the benefit that the new clinic will bring. However, the basic function of the clinic is the same, providing primary care to the community. In addition to increased access to primary care, dental and other services will come as the clinic matures. I have addressed comments about if the clinic fails, will the Intermountain return to Escalante. I say again, we will. Statements that have been made by anyone that Intermountain would not are irresponsible and incorrect. Also, some have asked if Intermountain feels insulted or unappreciated that some in the community are seeking this opportunity. Absolutely not. This is not about personal or company ego. If there are other options that can provide improved access to care, that is great and Intermountain is supportive of these efforts. Intermountain is proud of what they have accomplished over the many years that they have serviced the community. We look forward to serving the community in the future. However, now we have the potential of having a partner with the Wayne Community Health Center.
