Show Page 3 The Garfield County Insider July 30, 2009 obituaries Myra Joy LeFevre Anderson Joy was born at her home in Spry, Utah, Nov. 16, 1930. She passed away peacefully in Hurricane, Utah, July 14, 2009 at her daughter’s home, among family. She was a vibrant beautiful lady who had a passion for life and laughter. She had numerous talents, yodeling, playing the guitar and ukulele, singing and hand crafting, to name a few. Joy is the 5th child in a family of 12 children. She is survived by two sisters, Melody (Lynn) Culmer, Woodcross, Utah; Jeannie (Ralph) Jex, Spanish Fork, Utah. Three brothers, Thomas (Jennie) LeFevre, Provo, Utah; Sterling (Shirley) LeFevre, Provo, Utah; Golden (Marcy) LeFevre, Washington, Utah. Her children, Myron Anderson, Alaska; Charles (Robin) Anderson, Washington; Kevin (Mary) Anderson, Colorado; Maureen (Patrick) Anderson, Utah; Tracy (Freda) Anderson, Alaska. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and seven great grand children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Sylvia (Haycock) LeFevre and her sisters, Julia Carroll LeFevre, Gloria Mae (Robert) Whaley, Sylvia Gwen (Verl) Harrison. Her brothers Stanley Dent (Mary) LeFevre, Luke Conard (Rose) LeFevre, Harold Alma (Lorene) LeFevre, and her eldest son Don L. Anderson. Dale Lyman Escalante, Utah Mason Dale Lyman, 77, passed away July 24, 2009 at his home in Escalante. He was born June 28, 1932 in Boulder, Utah to Marion Frances and Hazel May Snow Lyman. He married Phyllis Haws, they later divorced. He married Lillian Christiansen on June 14, 1956 in Fredonia, AZ. Gary Ellis Gary Granger Ellis, age 75, passed away July 20, 2009 at home in Mayfield surrounded by his family. Gary was born July 5, 1934 in Salt Lake City, UT to Thelma Marie and LaFayette Granger Ellis. He married Cleola Clark on July 2, 1954 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Gary attended schools at Columbus Elementary, Irving Jr. High and South High School. He enjoyed working and had many parttime jobs along with his full time jobs. He worked at Hillfield, Marquardt aircraft and retired as an engineer from Hercules. His parttime jobs included private detective, hardwood floor layer, raised mink and managed a restaurant. Gary was a past member of the National Ski Patrol for 30+ years, and the Mayfield Lions Club. He loved camping, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed his kids and loved the grandkids. Gary belongs to the LDS Church where he was a scout leader, Elders quorum president, Ward executive secretary, Ward mission leader, activity chairman and Genealogy specialist. Family Graveside services to follow. ty-nine students from Panguitch High School attended and competed at the state FCCLA convention in Layton, Utah. There are nineteen categories that students compete in, by winning first place in a category a student or team of students qualifies to attend nationals. Panguitch High School won first place in three of the categories qualifying three teams made up of two students each. All six of these students traveled to Nashville, TN. July 10th-17th to attend and compete at the National FCCLA Convention, bringing home two silvers and one bronze medal. FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America) is a leadership organization where students plan, organize, and implement service projects that enhance/ improve their community, school, and/or their family. They complete the service projects individually or in groups of two or three. Once the projects are complete they present them in a variety of different styles using computers, display boards, and/or manuals. Students present their projects in front of a team of evaluators that use a rubric to grade the project and the oral presentation. The students who traveled to Nashville included, Jaylee Breinholt, Carly Holman, Haley Taylor, Natashia, Barney, Brendan Lee, and Austin Josie. There were over 6,000 students from around the nation that attended the convention. The students from Panguitch high School were outstanding representatives for the state of Utah and Garfield County. The students along with their advisors, who at- tended the convention with them, Tammi Bennett and Lisa Breinholt, would like to thank all of those who helped make this educational experience possible with their generous support.
