Must be a positive role model, interacting with students during evening and weekend recreational activities. All shifts available. Elizabeth (Betty) Anne LeFevre Knighton, 82, passed away on Wednesday, July 8th at her son’s home in Pocatello. She was born on March 26, 1927 in Spry, Utah to Peter and Jean Wood LeFevre. She was one of seven children. Betty married George C. Knighton on June 8, 1951 in the St. George LDS Temple and together they raised six children. Betty loved to read books and was involved with the local literary club. In addition to reading she loved to crochet and spend time with her grandkids. She was very involved with the LDS Church and served in various callings including Relief Society instructor, nursery leader, visiting teacher and Young Women’s secretary. She also volunteered at the LDS cannery on a regular basis. She was a notorious bread maker making many loaves of bread weekly for her large family. She was a member of the International Society Daughters of Utah Pioneers, South Bannock County as well as the Serendipity Camp. She served as the registrar for South Bannock. Betty attended schools in Panguitch then went on to the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. She graduated from there with a degree in Elementary Education in 1949 teaching school until getting married. Betty was a homemaker and wife first. Once the kids were in school, she returned to teaching in the Pocatello, Inkom and McCammon areas for 25 years. Betty is survived by her children, Sam (Janet) Knighton, Pocatello, Idaho; Steve Knighton, Inkom, Idaho; Tom (Ann) Knighton, Pocatello, Idaho; Linda (Mike) Woolley, Layton, Utah; William (Randy Middlebrooks) Knighton, Charlotte, North Carolina; Clark (Pam) Knighton, Logan, Utah. 2 sisters, Grace (Rex) Sandberg, Panguitch, Utah; Dorothy Ackerman, Bancroft, Idaho; one brother, Maurice LeFevre, Tukwila, WA; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George and two sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 17, 2009 at 11AM in the Skyline Ward LDS Church, Rapid Creek Road, Inkom, Idaho. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 South Fourth Ave, Pocatello, Idaho and Friday from 10-10:45am at the church in Inkom. His passing was very sudden and unexpected. He was born Dec. 2, 1932 in Panguitch, UT. He moved to Henderson, NV in 1952 where he married Jackie Sevy on April 23, 1952. He worked at Timet as a welder for over 42 years. After his retirement he continued to enjoy his family and friends. Carvel is survived by his wife, Jackie S. Hatch of Henderson NV; son Carg Ellis Hatch and daughter Elaine (Matt) Stigen, both of Henderson NV; his adopted son Kaoru Inoue of Tokyo, Japan; grand- daughter, Julie Mae Miller; three great grandchildren; his wife’s parents, Doyle and Edith Sevy, St. George UT; brothers and sisters: Lyle Hatch, Salt Lake City UT; Mark (Leona) Hatch, Granger UT; Mamie (LeGrande) Christiansen, Hyrum UT; Claude (Suzann) Hatch, Panguitch UT; Lida (Merlin) Partridge, Bountiful UT; Bruce (Jolene) Hatch, Logandale NV; Bill (Pat) Sevy, NV; Thom Sevy, St.George, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents: Millard Ellis and Mamie T. Hatch, his brother Wendell Hatch, and his sister Norma Hatch. A viewing was held both on July 2 & 3, 2009 at Palm Mortuary in Henderson, NV. Funeral Services were held at the Palo Verde LDS Chapel. The burial was at the Palm Memorial Park, Henderson NV. Dorothy Houston Heap Dorothy Houston Heap returned to her Heavenly Father on July 9, 2009, due to incidents of age. She was born November 25, 1923 in Panguitch, Utah to Rula Dalley and Joe Gale Houston. Dorothy married John Elmo Heap in the Salt Lake City Temple on May 10th, 1941 and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage. Dorothy spent most of her life in Cedar City where she retired from Mountain Bell after a successful 30 year career. Dorothy and Elmo enjoyed traveling with very special friends and had wonderful memories of these trips. Elmo and Dorothy built their home on Dewey Avenue in 1952 and remained there until their passing. They were faithful members of the Cedar City 8th Ward for 57 years. Dorothy was an artist in creating beautiful ‘handwork’ items and provided quilts, trousseaus, and layettes for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will all miss her wonderful homemade bread and Christmas candies. Dorothy was devoted to her family and she and Elmo supported their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in all of their activities. Dorothy is survived by her son James Russell (Arlene) Heap, brothers Bob (Emma) Houston, Kanab, UT, Herman J. (Margaret) Houston, Cedar City, A. Rex “Tony” Houston, Fallon, NV, and sister Karen (J. Daniel) Tebbs, Panguitch Lake and Hurricane, UT. Grandchildren Stefanie (Gary) Holyoak, Leslie (Neil) Orton, Coby Matheson, Laurel (Nick) Glidden, and Abby (Kenneth) Imlay, all of Cedar City, Chris (Casey) Heap, Santa Clara, Utah, and Lindsey Heap, Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren with 3 more on the way. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Elmo Heap, a daughter, Jaqueline Heap Matheson, son-in-law Don A. Matheson, and a brother, Gale D. Houston. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 13th, at 11:00 am at the Cedar City 8th Ward chapel, (corner of 2nd south and 2nd west). Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:30 am on Monday at the same location.
