They have five children - Kathy Petersen (Kent, deceased), Marilyn Marshall (Steve), Russell (Jill), Jim (Mary Anne), and Lisa Sinclair (Rodger). They have 21 grandchildren and 25 greatgrandchildren. Herb and Norine have lived in St. George for 28 years, 17 in Panguitch and 15 in Salt Lake City. Their greatest tribute is that through the years they have attended every possible event, near or far, involving their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Their family will be hosting an open house in their honor in Panguitch on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 7 p.m. at the Panguitch Stake Center. Friends are welcome to attend. Sorry about no article last week. I was out of town and no one sent any news into my email so I had to save what I had for this week. Thanks to all of you who take the time to contribute and read the articles. On August 29, 30, and 31 we spent the time in Central Valley at our son David Jensen’s home. We were there to watch our granddaughter, Joanna march at the football game on Friday. Then on Saturday we participated in an Eagle Scout ceremony for Joshua Jensen as he received his Eagle Scout award. He turns 14 in October and has worked very hard. On Sunday we attended church in the Annabella Ward to see grandson Joseph Alma Jensen as he performed in a quartet and give his missionary farewell talk. He is now in the MTC and was just made a District Leader at the MTC. All three of these young people are our grandchildren and the sons of David and Debbie Jensen. We are so proud of them all. Monte and Rita Twitchell had son Brit and his family, wife Karleena and children Mallory and Hannah home for a visit last week. They live in Las Vegas and came up to visit with the family. It is always fun to have family visit. Congratulations to Mark Nelson who was called as a teacher in the Primary in the Cannonville Ward. Rita reports that the Volleyball girls, the baseball teams and the cross country teams are all keeping busy with their schedules and school. We wish the a good year and hope the do well. The Ernie Henderson family held a reunion recently. Ernie and Wynona had four of their six children here to take part in this reunion. Son Dallas of Kearns, Dan and Wendy (their daughter) Davis of Mesa Arizona and sons Austin and Shane. Shane came from St. George and brought his friend Candace. Bryan and Trish (another daughter) Dixon and their son, Mitch and wife Pam of St. George. From Henrieville came Logann(another daughter) and husband Max Eager with children Calvin, Henrie, and Carolina. The family all took a tour of Cannonville where Ernie pointed out the home he was raised in and also where his grandparents had lived. Everyone was riding on the bed of a flat bed truck and when they got back to Henrieville they all piled out and hunted up some shade at the Henrieville Park. Wynona then talked about ancestors and where they lived and he growing up there in Henrieville. They all did lots of eating and visiting. They ended the day with a mexican fiesta made by the girls. It was so good Wynona reports. Some of the husbands got in and helped out with the preparations. Daughter Wendy has a friend in Mesa Arizona who helped her prepared the food that she brought up to Henrieville. Not able to attend were daughters Dorsie who lives in San Diego and Lynne who is in South Carolina. The Henderson’s report it was a very good time and they certainly enjoyed all that they did together. Kenny Goulding is in the Rehab in Panguitch afther being in St. George in the hospital and staying with his daughter, Julie and husband Mike Johnson. He is now back at Rehab and they feel he is improving after being in and out of the hospital. We send our prayers to Kenny and wish him a speedy recovery. Sisters Wynona Henderson, and Kathryn Pollock and brother, Steve Goulding have been taking turns staying with Kenny and helping him out. Tim and Chrishell Leech of Idaho Falls had a big scare when daughter Sierra was hit in the head by a baseball at the Checkers game in Idaho Falls. They rushed her to the emergency room and they kept her in the hospital overnight to watch her. The doctors have told the Leech’s that she is to do no activity for four weeks to watch for any unseen problems. Sierra’s grandparents are Rod and Kathern Syrett and Elaine Haas. Great-grandparents are Jean Syrett and Helma Haas. Hope all goes well for the family and especially for Sierra. It is hard for a little girl to remain active when that is what little girls like to do, be active. Brian and Megan Pollock DeMIlle had an 8lb. 2 oz. baby boy on August 28th, 2008. The very excited and first time grandparents are Greg and Lesa Pollock of Tropic. Dana and Lorie DeMille of Cedar City are the other proud grandparents. Great-grandparents are DeVon and Vici Owens of Panguitch. The darling little boy has been named Gavin Tait DeMille. This is the first child for the DeMilles. Congratulations to everyone. Carl and Mary-Miller Boyd recently returned from seeing their new Australian grandson, Riley James Naylor. He was born to their daughter, Emily Naylor and her husband Adam on July 17th, 2008. The baby was 6 lbs and 7 ozs. and was fine, except that he came three weeks early. He arrived a week before the Boyds got to Australia. They had a fun time there, doing a lot of baby holding, and also getting out to a pineapple farm and a ginger factory. They also took a short side trip up to Bundaber, where Obie Shakespear spent a little time during the War. Carl finally got p the nerve to drive on the “wrong” side of the road so they were able to go to a friendly ward in Nambour, about ten miles from their daughter. Congratulations to the family on this new wonderful arrival in their lives. Dan Cloud was released from his committment as the Boy Scout District Committee after serving diligently and with honor for many years. Great job Dan. He works very hard now as the Cub Master in Tropic. We send out our condolences to the Linda Pollock family on their loss of daughter Joanna in Cedar City. We also send condolences to Metta Jane Whittaker of Circleville on the loss of her husband, Larry. Larry and Metta Jane are well know for their Arby Restaurants around the area. Dave Jacobsen is in the hospital and we wish him a very speedy recovery. Congratulations to Joshua Alvey who was graduated from Primary into the Young Men and became a Deacon. He is the son of Bishop Kerry Alvey and his wife JoNiel. Rella Alvey is the grandmother in Tropic We were happy to see Kaleb McInelly who was up from Phoenix Arizona on a school break to visit with family and friends. He gives the best hello hugs and they have been missed. He is doing well and looks good. Also visited for a time with Elder Kevin Clark who is temporarily home from his Mission to Ventura California. He broke some bones in hsi hand and wrist and had to come home for surgery. He now sports a pin inside his hand to hold everything together and will now report back to his mission in November. Clint and Tina Brown had a beautiful wedding. I would just like to comment on her beautiful dress. It was white satin(?) with a gorgeous red embroidered train. She looked stunning and Clint looked so happy. Congratulations to the newly married couple. Up next is Kyler Brinkerhoff and Stephenie Robinson on Sebtember 12th. Somewhere in there is the wedding for Tierney Richards. We wish all the couples the best of luck in the new life and know that they will be happy together. Have a great week and enjoy what is left of the warm weather. Cold is just around the corner. Thanks to you for sending your news and hope you will continue to do so. VS THANK YOU FROM SOUTHWEST SKIN AND CANCER AND THEIR FAMILIES Southwest Skin and Cancer Staff Members and their Families wish to thank each of you in the various communities for the outpouring of love and support we have received during this difficult time. The individuals whose lives were lost in the tragic accident on August 22nd were each an important part of our lives and they will be deeply missed. Dr. Ellsworth was a tireless worker, who held high expectations of his staff. He was a very kind, compassionate, caring man, who strove to provide each of our patients with the best possible care. While we must take time to reflect on our departed friends and the ways which they blessed our lives, we also commit to moving forward in providing the high quality care which these individuals were devoted to. Dr. Colbert will continue seeing patients at Southwest Skin and Cancer and Red Canyon Spa in Cedar City and Richfield. Call for appointment 435-586-6440, 800-986-6440. Regrettably, we must suspend our other travel clinics, but may resume them in the not-toodistant future. SIGNS, PRINTING & GRAPHIC DESIGN 676-2621 Puns (One) I’ve always enjoyed PUNS...one of my best friends is the best punster I’ve ever known...I got these (three) puns from my daughter the other day...so, let’s have some ‘pun’ for the next couple of weeks! A woman has twins and gives them up for adoption. One of them goes to a family in Egypt and is named ‘Ahmal.’ The other goes to a family in Spain; they name him ‘Juan.’ Year’s later; Juan sends a picture of himself to his birth mother. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wishes she also had a picture of Ahmal. Her husband responds, ‘They’re twins! If you’ve seen Juan, you’ve seen Ahmal.’ Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little which made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him. (Oh, man, this is so bad, it’s good).....A super calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis. And finally, there was the person who sent twenty different puns to his friends, with the hope that at least ten of the puns would make them laugh. No pun in ten did. Here’s a few more to get you chuckling: I wondered why the baseball was getting bigger. Then it hit me. Did you hear about the guy whose whole left side was cut off? He’s all right now. I couldn’t quite remember how to throw a boomerang, but eventually it came back to me. There was a sign on the lawn at a drug re-hab center that said ‘Keep off the Grass.’ He drove his expensive car into a tree and found out how the Mercedes bends. Police were called to a daycare where a three-yearold was resisting a rest. |
