The Mississippi Valley has a storm on either end. One is Hurricane Gustav, aimed at New Orleans. The government is ready, though. We all know what that means. The other is upriver, at the small town of St. Paul. The Republican Topical Depression, with blowing hot air, and all. It’s like a book by Hemingway, it kind of seems to me, A stormy novel, similar to, ‘The Old Man and the She.’ At least McCain’s campaign is clear. I hope it doesn’t trouble you. LISTINGS – ESCALANTE LETTER TO THE EDITOR Dear Editor, We would like to correct a possible misconception caused by the wording at the end of our daughter’s obituary regarding a “donation fund” set up at Zion’s Bank. This is actually a “Memorial Fund” in memory of Hannah Lee Wagstaff, and we are specifying that the funds be donated to purchase supplies for newborn kits through the Humanitarian Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These kits are distributed in areas of need throughout the world. We are both painters, and the Memorial Fund was set up especially to accommodate the request of some art collectors, and other contacts in our art business. We are not in particular financial need, and do not want to convey that idea to our many friends, family and neighbors who have all been most gracious and generous at this difficult time.
