FIRST SPEC HOME FOR PANGUITCH by Teri Morse If I was a betting woman, I'd bet that some of you are saying what is a spec home. Well, I'm told it is a home that is a new home already built and ready to move into. This makes it nice for someone wanting to move into Panguitch. It takes away the wait time on building your own home. At the present time, there is only one spec home available, and it is in the Mountain View Subdivision. As you all know, Denny Orton lives here in Panguitch, and observed that there is a need for quality homes here in Panguitch. Because of this need, Denny Orton of ERA Brokers got together with Ken & Ren Construction and another investor from Salt Lake City named Josh Cheny to build the first spec home. There are two more subdivisions just past Mountain View on Highway 143 that have opened up. Plans are to build two or three houses a year in those subdivisions. I'm told that the next spec homes will be a bit smaller and more affordable for families just starting out, or retirees looking to downsize. Great job Mr. Orton, Ken & Ren and Mr. Cheny. We look forward to your next project. NRCS ANNOUNCES EQIP FUND POOLS REOPENED FOR NEW APPLICATIONS Kristi Hatch, district conservationist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), has announced that three fund pools under the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) have been reopened for new applications. The NRCS field office, located at 225 E. Center Street Panguitch, Utah, will be accepting the new applications until January 8,2007; with final rankings to be completed by January 15,2007. The EQIP conservation programs will offer cost-share incentives to successful applicants with watershed improvement plans in the following areas; 1. Riparian-conservation practices that improve the function of streams and riparian areas. 2. Forestry-improvements on private forest lands that have an approved forestry plan 3. Wildlife-individual landowner plans that improve wildlife habitat. Current applications for these programs will be held and ranked along with any new applications that may be received. For further information about these conservation program opportunities, contact Kristi Hatch at 435-6768021. NRCS is an equal opportunity provider and employer. |
