Syrett 679-8687 or vickidiane36@hotmail.com Get well wishes are being sent out to Bonnie Nelson who has broken her arm very badly. It is a spiral break with three different places that are broken from her should on down. Her surgery went well and she is healing on her own now. Her daughters, Jolene, Marie, and JuneAnne have all taken turns coming to help her. Mark and Loni Nelson have also been there to help. We hope Bonnie gets well quickly and is soon as good as new. Cari Gillespie and children, Alli and Landon, are here visiting Cares parents, Herb and Dorie Baugh and sister Dana Courtright and Emilee. She drove out from Castle Rock and will be here for a week during spring break. She car pooled with a lady from Beaver and her children who also came home to visit family. Afton Pollock was able to come spend some time in Tropic with his family to celebrate his 91st birthday. They all met and enjoyed cake and ice cream with Afton before he had to go back to the Care Center in Panguitch. What a nice man he is. We hope he had a great birthday. Congratulations to Danielle Brinkerhoff who received her "Faith in God" award. She worked very hard to earn it. Danielle is the daughter of Tyson and Kayce Brinkerhoff of Tropic. Bryce and Cherish Syrett were the speakers in Cannonville today and they gave very moving talks. Marilee Platt sang a beautiful song for everyone and she has a wonderful singing voice. Brace and DeLayne Griffin spoke in Henrieville today. They are grandson and grandfather with DeLayne being the grandfather. Very interesting speakers. The Durtin Sorenson family sang "I am a Child of God". Very nice. In Tropic Sister Monica Taylor, the Stake Young Women's President spoke and her husband, Jerry Taylor spoke with her. The ward choir sang a number also. Troy Sidwell was ordained a Deacon in Cannonville. Christina Labrum and daughter Aloria are staying with John and Ramona Morreale for awhile. They are delighted to have them there and Aloria is already registered and attending first grade at Bryce Valley Elementary. A great big THANK YOU to the Garkane workers who spent hours in the cold wind fixing our electricity so we could once again have lights and heat, not to mention hot water. Thanks to all of you!! There is a new Elders Quorum Presidency in Henrieville. Lance Jaggar is President with 1st Counselor Wade Moore and 2nd Counselor Karl Roundy. Secretary is Cal Chynoweth. Released from these callings were Carson Johnson Pres., Durtin Sorenson 1st Counselor, and Cal Chynoweth as Secretary. We send our condolences out to the family of Ora Brinkerhoff. What a special lady Ora was. She used to work in the school lunch program and was always happy and smiling at the kids. She was one of the Icons of our area and will be greatly missed. Ora always had a beautiful yard and the flowers and trees were wonderful. She had been struggling the last little while with pneumonia and would be 91 in May. We love you Ora and send our prayers, love and thoughts to the family. Hayden Adkins we want to wish you some good health also. We hope you will soon be feeling better. We are paying for you Hayden. Louise England is home from the hospital and we also want to hear that she is getting better. She is in our thoughts and prayers. Reed and Mary Le Fevre have gone down to be with daughter, Sandy Madsen, who is in the Dixie Regional Medical Center. She is not doing well and they went to give her their love and care. We wish the family the best. The Stewart Dance Academy had a wonderful program on Saturday. Those kids are wonderful and so are the adults. It was very enjoyable and worth the time it took to attend. You all did so well and we are proud of all of you. Hope to see you again next year. The Cub Scouts have the Pack Meeting this week on Thursday. As an FCCLA project, Cajun Syrett organized a 3 on 3 Basketball Game. It was in Memory of his sister, Cherish Hope Syrett, and they named it the "Hoops for Hope" tournament. Flyers have been up at the school and they wanted to have as many as they could to come and join in. The proceeds from this project are being donated to the Dixie Regional Newborn Intensive Care Unit in St. George. It was a successful venture and donations were even collected to be able to give the players a tee shirt for their participation. The ages were fifth grade up to adults. They held it on Friday the 18th of March and had many who came out to participate. Thanks to Cajun for this worthwhile project. His parents are Bryce and Cherish Syrett and mom said she loved the FCCLA program because it taught the students about service, charity, and doing for others in any way they can. Some of the other project involved coats, stuffed animals, hats, community service, etc. This was the week for the Relief Societies to celebrate the birthday of the Relief Society Organization. In Tropic they had a wonderful dinner of roast beef, mashed potatoes, salad, green beans, and the most wonderful cupcakes you have ever seen. The program consisted of many old fashioned games such as milking, making butter, etc. It was hilarious to see the people trying to beat the clock to win their particular event. Good work to the planners and the cooks. We sure did enjoy ourselves. In Henrieville they had a Potato Bar with all kinds of trimming. The program was given by Sandy Johnson and Karen Barker on the history of Henrieville and they had a slide show of many pictures showing the area. Very entertaining. It was actually a power point presentation. Cannonville will be reported on next week. Kezli Floyd just had her tonsils out and is recovering nicely. Kezli is a second grader at BVE school. She is the daughter of Steve and Kassidy Floyd of Henrieville. It is good to see Marie Pollock out and around and hopefully recovering nicely. We wish you well Marie. The Henrieville Young Men and Young Women held an Etiquette Dinner and then had dance lessons. They dressed up and Holly Baugh taught them manners to use at the dinner. The Young Women prepared a several course dinner of roast beef and potatoes, with help from master chef, Lilian Le Fevre. Layne and April Le Fevre then taught the group dance steps in preparation for the Jr. Prom on April 15th. Everyone goes to this dance so they all wanted to learn the dance. They had a great time. Thanks to all those who helped pull this together. Mark and Loni Nelson want daughter Ashley to know just how proud they are of her achievements in basketball this year. She made some outstanding shots during the tournaments, even to the point of helping them win in the last minute of the games.
