DeLong, 71, of Hatch, Utah, passed away August 13, 2006 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born in Tropic, Utah on March 23,1935 to Carlos A and Thella Shakespeare DeLong. He married Myrna Lue LeFever on November 9, 1957 in Panguitch, Utah. He was a veteran. He is survived by his wife of Hatch; daughter, Karen Lynn of Salt Lake City; four grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Richard DeLong of Cedar City, Linda Speirs of Cedar City, Deliah (Allen) Davis of Salt Lake City, David Harvey DeLong of St. George, Edwin (Debriah) DeLong of Provo. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Morris and Galyen; two sisters, Carla and Elouise Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 19, 2006, at 1:00 p.m.in the Hatch LDS Ward Chapel, where friends called on Saturday from 11:00 to 12:30 on Saturday. Main • Richfield, Utah (435)896-5486 1-800-748-5044 John Lloyd Pontiac • Buick • GMC Cadillac • Oldsmobile 5 YEAR OLD BOY ACCIDENTALLY KILLED IN GARFIELD COUNTY A 5-year-old boy Steven Lee of Centerfield (by Gunnison) was accidentally killed a week ago Saturday when he tripped and fell on his child-sized .22 gun, shooting himself. Steven was on a weekend camping trip with 2 adults and 2 other children, and was target practicing at Jorgenson Flat (near lower bowns) in Garfield County, when the accident occurred. He was under adult supervision when the incident occurred, according to the sheriff's office. Garfield County Sheriff Than Cooper warns parents to be extra vigilant when any loaded firearm is within reach of any child, and strongly suggests that parents don't allow kids to handle a hunter's rifle by themselves at least until they have taken a hunter safety course. NOTICE OF PROPOSED TAX INCREASE Garfield County School District is proposing to increase its property tax revenue. As a result of the proposed increase, the tax on an $95,000.00 primary residence will be $446.78, and the tax on a business or secondary residence having the same value in the taxing entity will be $812.34. Without the proposed increase the tax on a $95,000.00 primary residence would be $381.73, and the tax on a business or secondary residence having the same value in the taxing entity would be $694.07. The 2006 proposed tax rate is .008551. Without the proposed increase, the rate would be .007306. This would be an increase of 17%, which is $65.05 per year ($5.42 per month) on a $95,000.00 primary residence or $118.27 per year on a business or secondary residence having the same value in the taxing entity. With NEW GROWTH, this property tax increase, and other factors, the Garfield County School District will increase its property tax revenue from $2,608,868.00 collected last year to $3,109,199.00 collected this year which is a revenue increase of 19%. All concerned citizens are invited to a public hearing on the tax increase to be held on Thursday, August 24th at 6:00 p.m. at Boulder Elementary School, Boulder, Utah. Antimony Town board meeting was held last Thursday evening with many items brought up for duscussion such as water meters, curb and gutters, etc. Irva Sudweeks. Kingston, has her family reunion on Cedar Mountain and MarciaTobiasson and all of her children and families attended on the weekend. KayMar, Mary Jean, Koye and Kobe Willis went to Provo on Sunday, August 6, for the baby blessing of Kati and Bryan Cox, she was named Nicole Brynn Cox. We are so happy to have Kyle Willis, his wife Hailee and their baby, Kylee in our Ward. They have just taken a trip to Nebraska for Hailee's family reunion. Now they are getting ready to move into the Gayle Ipson house as they have had a time to find a place to live here. The Patrick Jensen's have purchased a large trailer from the Mike Robertson's who live up on the Antimony Bench. They now have it moved up to the Hal Jensen ranch and is set up ready for them to move in. Visiting with Verlene Gleave was her son Trent and Shelly Gleave family and a friend from Enoch, UT. Fred and Judy Goebel have been camping with their trailer up at Pine Lake. Calvin and Barbara Gleave also have been up to Pine Lake to camp and do some fishing. Wade Wiley has been up in the Utah Valley Hospital for nearly three months. He will be released on this Friday, the 18lh. His wife and three boys with Wade's dad. Bill Wiley, will be bringing him home and will have quiet a few to help escort him home into Antimony. He was seriously injured in a 4-wheeler bike wreck as the bike rolled over his head twice. He had surgery that night in Provo when the helicopter took him up At least one of the family has been there with him 24 hours a day ever since it happened. Our farmers are trying to get this hay up before another storm hits. Hope they make it. Last night was quiet chilly but no frost yet! The Herb and Lore Gleave family reunion will be held this Saturday the 19th at noon, at the Community Center here in Antimony. Leland Robison has been down to Phoenix, AZ for his Uncle Same Robinson's funeral. The next week all the RQbison family will be on the Monroe-Mountain for their annual camping trip. '•[- |
