ESCALANTE NEWS ...by Chris Haycock, 435-826-4832, plateofdreams@scinternet.net Well hello folks. Just a few things for this week. Don't forget about The 4-H Horse program June 17th. I Believe I was told its to start at 9:00 am at the Rodeo Grounds. Go support those kids. June 15th thru 18th will be the BMW Bike Rally in Panquitch. I will be getting facts on the Old City Park. The Garfield County Trails Committee has spent quite a bit of time with the City Council on how to best use the Park. But before anything can be done with it, it has to be brought up to code. The Trails committee has already got the grant money in place to do this and keep up the maintenance at no cost to the city. This will be a multiple use park. Nothing is set in stone on this. As I have said before, go to the meetings. Get involved. Seek the facts. Valarie Sandavol would like to welcome her son Will Sparks to town. He will be living here and attending his Senior year here. He's involved in different sports. My daughter Missy and my grandkids are here to visit for a week. House sure feels full with kids around. "Made ya think" answers gallon, ounce, pound, ream and bale. Do you know when SILLY PUTTY came to be and how? I'll give you a hint on how. It came into being as a result of a World War II government contract. OBITUARIES Bob Hanks Delia Tebbs 1924-2006 Lorin Robert "Bob" Hanks, 82, passed away June 4, 2006 in Panguitch, Utah. I love my job, the people of Garfield County and I love this department. I have be affiliated with almost 30 years in county law enforcement; in those years I was active with the Garfield County Search and Rescue where I donated time and equipment whenever asked. In 1987, I became an employee of the Garfield County Sherrif office. I spent my first year as a dispatch/jailer and then moved on to jail administrator. Some of my responsibilities included scheduling staff, working with budget and working with State administrators for our State inmates which we house. After 6 years as jail administrator I went on the road as a deputy; during this time I was involved with investigating many many different types of cases through the county and yes, Garfield County, like many other communities in the US has a real drug problem. There has not been another law enforcement officer in Garfield County history that has been involved in more drug cases or had more drug convictions then I have. My fight against drugs has been and will continue to be relentless. If elected I will continue to be in the fight against drugs. I have told you this before and would like to tell you this again; I have the leadership and the administrative ability to be your next sherrif I will get the most out of our department. I want to work with ALL of our deputies and travel through out this county on a regular basis not only to help them but to help each one of you in any way that I can. Once again I pledge to be a working sherriff. |
