Show JUNE 15,2006 It Makes Sense. T H E GARFIELD COUNTY INSIDER By Veda Hale with Vi Blake • Page 4 JAY PROCTOR'S CELEBRATE 70TH ANNIVERSARY Jay and Dudley Proctor of Panguitch will celebrate their 70th wedding Anniversary on Monday, June 19th. They were married in 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Both were born and reared in Panguitch. Jay farmed most of his life, and then served as Panguitch City Clerk and Garfield County Commissioner before he retired. Dudley served as the Selective Service Clerk and as secretary for the Extension Service for many years before she retired. Jay and Dudley are parents of two children, Gwen (Clark) Frandsen, Panguitch, and Arlyn (Ann) Proctor, Centerville. They have seven grandchildren, 25 greatgrandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Jay is 90 years old and Dudley is 92 years old. They are still able to stay in their own home and care for each other. Jay and Dudley love visits from their family and just plain enjoy the quiet life of Panguitch. We moved into an older home that hadn't been lived in for some time. The toilet had very bad stains. My regular cleaner didn't help much. Then an elderly neighbor told me to try several of her denture tablets in the bowl. That would have been enough for a slightly stained bowl, but for the very bad stains, like I had, I also used a pumice stone (like some people use to smooth rough feet). Finally, I have a clean-looking toilet. I received two other hints from my new neighbor. First, (maybe she noticed some of my synthetic clothes and thought they looked dull) she suggested to run my clothes through a second run without soup, that something in soup can actually build up, especially in synthetics, and make them take on a gray cast. I tried it and I do believe it works. I now do it periodically. Second, to make delicious gravy, grate a potato into the liquid from a roast or other meat. It helps to thicken and adds flavor. JHMt Richfield, Utah. I would say you are lucky to have a wise neighbor who is not afraid to share her wisdom. I like to use these new grills for cooking bacon, steaks, hamburgers, etc. But the space to store them is hard to come by in my kitchen. I remembered I have two sides to my waffle iron and discovered that, by putting ajar lid on the smooth side, I could cook about any food I could in my specialty grills without flattening them. If I want the grease to run out, I put one leg of the waffle iron up on another lid and something at the low corner to catch grease. Something I just learned that will change my meal-fixing habits is that the ENJOY FISHLAKE AT IT'S FINEST! nutritional value of, for instance, fresh peas is greater in frozen peas than from fresh ones in the pod.
