Show Page 3 THE GARFIELD COUNTY INSIDER the utfrer'side afihefetwv, 4. by Earl Roe wearlwe@yahoo.com • 676-2376 I have heard it said that a good plumber always makes a smali mistake so that he has to be called back. I wonder if this holds true with writers. At least a mistake always gives you a place to start. I will start this week's Knothole by correcting a mistake in last week's article. I mistakenly told our readers that my brother. Ken, was presenting his narrated slide show on Early Panguitch at the Panguitch Lake Branch L.D.S. Chapel on the 13th of June. This is just a month off. It will be given of the 13th of July. I called President Tebbs and told him he might get a crowd at the chapel this coming Tuesday night. The 2006 annual Panguitch Quiltwalk Festival is now history and judging from the number of people in town (Most of them strangers to me) it was a successful event thanks to the hard work of the volunteers who planned, staged, and managed the different events & classes and also to all those who participated in any way, especially the members of the Panguitch Rhythm Band who provided music and entertainment at some of the programs. (By the way, the Rhythm Band has openings for anyone who would like to have fun by joining and playing with them (& they do PLAY!). They would really welcome some younger members. Our Panguitch Lions Club always participates in every event that takes place in Panguitch so at our first meeting Wednesday evening, the main item of business was making plans for our coming events for this Summer, the first of which was our first public early morning breakfast Saturday. We also voted to feed the pilots at our coming balloon festival; to feed the Country Fiddlers when they come to Panguitch and to give $150 as prize money to the winner of the Quilt Walk Race which will be donated to the winners favorite charity. (This was a normal meeting!) We had an excellent turnout at our breakfast in spite of a slightly chilly breeze. I enjoy these because there are lots of strangers and former residents to meet and visit with. I did not get to see as many as I would liked to have seen because some Lion kept yelling at me to get back to my job. I did have a few interesting visits in spite of this heckling. I like to tell people about Panguitch and enjoyed answering the questions for Cheryl McLean & Donnetta Arnold (Magna, Ut.)& Bonnie Hill (Orem,Ut.) They were quite interested JUNE 15,2006 in learning about our community. ABOUT HIRING A GARFIELD COUNTY I always enjoy meeting my former SCHOOL BOARD SUPERINTENDENT students and two of them were at our The Garfield County School Board postage for our advertisement. We paid for only the printing costs and on who that person is. Anna Pollock brought some friends (John & Doris Farrell) to our breakfast. John & Doris are from Las Vegas but have bought property out by the airport and will soon be moving to Panguitch. They said they enjoyed our cool breakfast, their friends, and our Quilt Walk Festival. Clark and Gwen Frandsen recently had two grandchildren graduate from High School just 2 days and 1,000 miles apart. Jay C. Hansen, son of Michelle and Brian Hansen graduated from Boise, Idaho High School on May 30th and Shannon Shupe, daughter of Robert & Sherrie Shupe, graduated from Kingman, Arizona High School on June 1st. Clark & Gwen made it to both graduations and on their way home stopped in Las Vegas to spend some time with Jim & Barbara Duckett. After getting home at the completion of this extended trip, they said that Panguitch and home never looked so good, but they were happy that they were able to attend both graduations. I also met some new (to me) Panguitch residents who had not been welcomed through the Knothole. Steven and Melissa Oden & children have been in the former Dell Miller home since SepReserved Seating $30.00 tember and Mike & Lucy Sarles and General Admission $25.OO their five children are living in the home at 146 East, 500 North.
