In this country, The United States of America, we have the opportunity to be free. We can worship how we want, and we can choose to do what we want as long as it does not interfere with the rights of others. As I watch the news, I am amazed at how many people are coming here from other countries. Most of these immigrants have given all they have to come here, in hope that they can be happy and do what they want. They recognize how blessed we are in the United States because we are free to make our own choices. I am grateful for the soldiers serving over in Iraq, fighting to help the Iraqi people become free. I believe that the war in Iraq is helping the people gain confidence in knowing that there is a better way of living. I am grateful that the soldiers are willing to leave their comfort zones, their families, their homes, their jobs, their communities, to help make this world a better place where all people can be free'. I think most of us take for granted the things we have. We don't recognize and appreciate what we have until we no longer have it. We are able to choose our religion and worship how we want. We also have a republic, and the right to vote and elect our officials that will represent us in governing our country. Even thought making our own decisions is sometimes hard, we need to think of our own decision-making as a privilege and use it to our best ability. "Liberty is the right to choose, freedom is the result of that choice." (Unknown) I am grateful for the things I have and the opportunity that I have to live in this free country, the United States of America. I hope I will be more aware of and recognize what I have and be able to help others. I will try to be actively involved by being a good citizen and helping those in need.
