PLEASE VOTE ON JUNE 27TH. . , ^ ,. ^ - Paid for by the Committee to Elect Gaylen Moore. It Makes Sense. Dear Veda: One of the jobs I dislike the most is cutting my little girls bangs. A friend suggested putting a strip of wide transparent tape where you want to cut. This way the job is done quickly and no hair falls onto the child's face. • Teach a child to drink from a cup while in the bathtub and let the bath water catch the mess. Also avoid stains on clothes by giving baby his vitamins while in the tub. • A small night light helps when a child is afraid of the dark. Sometimes just hanging a small flashlight by the head of the bed where the child can reach it will be enough to help him feel he has some control over dark, and thus lessen fear. This is especially a good idea when two children sleep in the same room and one of them doesn't sleep well if a light is on. • Here's an easy way to clean bathroom walls: Shut the door and windows; turn on the hot water faucet letting the room fill with steam. Go over walls and woodwork with your favorite cleaning By Veda Hale with Vi Blake solution. The steam loosens the dirt so that it slides right off. • When you want to tie something up tight, wet the string first. It stretches when wet and shrinks as it dries. • Add a mashed banana and a little vanilla or nutmeg to applesauce for a different and delicious flavor. If you want it to look really special, color it pink with a drop or two of red food color. • A damp chamois cloth quickly removes dog and cat hair and lint from upholstered furniture and car seats. • Wrap your index finger with tape, adhesive side out, when you want to clean the corners of drawers and other hard to-get-reach places. Pipe cleaners are also useful for cleaning cracks and crevices. • If you have a scratchy wool sweater, add two or three tablespoons of glycerin to the last rinse water. You'll be surprised at how soft it will feel. • The lovely get-well cards that are received while you or a loved one is in the hospital are cheerful, but they clutter up the bedside table. A length of yarn strung across the window provides a place to hang them where they will look lovely and remind the sick one of friends and family members who were thoughtful enough to send them. • A nylon stocking plus the soap that sticks to the soap dish is all you need to keep the bathroom sink sparkling clean. The nylon has enough roughage to do the job so that an abrasive cleaner is not needed. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Art is the signature of man. C.J. Chesterton Readers, this is your feature. It's been a long Hme rime I called someplace home. Thefarthesthorizon Is where I must head, And wherever night finds me 111 roll out my bed. It ain't like I'm rumln' awayfromthe law, I just like to see what Is up the next draw. The mountain'sfarslope Is the sight I must see, And the place I ain't beenls where I've got to be. I wonder, sometimes, In this migratln' life. How come I wound up with no home and no wffe, Then I top the nextridge, see the next big old view, And I know why I stay on the move like I do. You might see my dust as I go down the frail. You might catch a glimpse of my pony's black fall. But, wherever you see us, we surely won't stay. Well rest up, andfeedup, and be on the way. Fiddlefbot rover, long-rldfn' man. I head lor new country 'cause I want, and I can. There's always new things that a feller might find, And me old stuff fades back in the dust, far behind.
