My Response to all of you Well I got a lot of response to my article in regards to the school board, teachers and children a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was interesting that so many of you feel the same way I do, but yet there is hesitation to do something, WHY? These were some of the reasons not to get involved. Because "of what others will think", because "of what the repercussions their children will have from adults and from other children" and "oh well that is the way it is". Some had no idea this was happening. What is this saying about society, as well as our little community? Why does Panguitch have these issues? I was watching some family home video's of the Martin family, noticing participation of the citizens at some of the events being recorded. It was awesome. Coming from a large town, I never really saw participation from parents, grandparents and others. It was less personal. I'm just not sure I have really felt that spirit here like it could be. What is special about small communities, is the oneness of friendship and love which is in the attitude of caring and loving each other. This school thing with the board and superintendent is huge and everyone needs to be involved and have some say about how they feel about it or understand what is going on. It has been a Deb Nay negative on the community and other schools in Garfield County, but I live here in Panguitch and I do care about Panguitch. My children come to visit. We have visitors coming, who may consider living or retiring here. Should this situation or lack of participation be what we have to offer them? I talked to one mom (and she has been standing up for the children) who said, I will not worry what others will do to my family. I have raised my kids to stand on their own. Her children are being prepared for what lies outside of Panguitch. This mom is trying, but she can't do it alone. I believe children are as strong as their parents. We need to make it known where we stand and then stand with honor at what we believe. To protect our children, parents need to take a stand. I'm so grateful that my sons can stand on their own. My youngest two where in school when our hard learning experience came when their dad and I divorced, which was very difficult, but the trial of that ordeal made them stronger. It made our family stronger. It was never easy and there were times we cried with discouragement. But we manage to rise above our situation and we are stronger now more than ever. So moms, dads, and grandparents, your children are stronger than you sometimes give them credit, so don't be afraid for them. Teach them through your . |
