Glen is taking over for Joe Decker who has done an outstanding job these last two years. The International Lions spent 3 million dollars helping the people of Haiti, where they built 3 tent cities. Each city contained 1000 tents and is taken care of by the local Lions club. When you donate your body after you die, to circulate your organs, the Lions eye doctors, use the corneas for transplanting. They also use eyes that have problems, (macular degeneration) to find cures for these problems. Last night the local Lions were out cleaning up All of our business are up and mining for the summer tourist season. Hopefully it will be a good year. One thing that may stop the Europeans is that our dollar is getting stronger every day. Last year a euro cost you $1.58 it is now down to $1.23 and falling, the pound is down from $2.00 to $1.45. So if want to go abroad wait a little bit it may get back to the 90s, when you only paid $.80 for a euro. Remember shop locally, the foods great and the items are unique from the shops. Joe's meat can't be beat anywhere, and Panguitch's gas is some of the cheapest in the state. Sunday the 23rd Business Women's Club will sponsor Graduation tea and it is fun time and it begins at 5:00 and will be held at the high school auditorium. Following this will be the Seminary graduations at 7:00, it will be held at the stake center. May 26th will be the Panguitch high school graduation held in the school gym at 6:00. Rehearsals for the quilt walk play have started. Some of us are growing our beards in preparation for our parts. This is a fun play to be involved in. Hopefully the quilt walk statue will be ready for dedication during the 2nd week of June. There will be small statues available shortly, they will make wonderfully gifts. If you are wondering what's happening at the Zions bank lot, it is being prepared to be made in to a park, where the statue will sit. They are taking out the dead quakies and digging up the grass. They will be replaced by landscaping trees and pathways and benches. Linda Olsen is back from Japan after about 3 months, even though Linda was taller than everyone, she is glad to be back.
