YOUR ALL OWE “US” $62,200 “MORE” the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 Now........., THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT As requested, the Congressional Budget Office has estimated the costs of additional debt service that would result from enacting H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Such costs are not included in CBO’s cost estimates for individual pieces of legislation and are not counted for Congressional scorekeeping purposes for such legislation. Under CBO’s current economic assumptions and assuming that none of the direct budgetary effects of H.R. 1 are offset by future legislation, CBO estimates that the government’s interest costs would increase by $0.7 billion in fiscal year 2009 and by a total of $347 billion over the 2009- 2019 period. while starting with Bush and Reagan, the debt increased. We can’t lay the blame solely on the Presidents. I also studied control of the house of representatives. The house was controlled by the Democratic party by a large margin until 1995, when the Republican party controlled the house until 2007. So.... if your point is to lay blame...... well, good luck. “No clear lines.” Here is a realistic observation. If each taxpayer took out a 10 year loan for $62,200 (which is the national average share of debt for each of us in this Stimulus package) at an interest rate of 6% , our monthly payments would be $690.55. What are the LADY THUNDERBIRDS REGION 15 CHAMPIONS The Region 15 Girl’s Championship game was for the initial 16 minutes a tough defensive battle, with Bryce Valley leading 18 to 17 at the intermission. In the second half the Piute offense caught fire and went on a 28 to 16 run to capture the region crown 46 to 33. The floor game was close, with Piute outscoring Bryce Valley only 12 to 11 buckets. The free throw line was a wider margin with Piute sinking 18 of 24 while the Mustangs could only muster 4 of 8. Kandice Gleave was the powerhouse of the contest with a game high 24 points and Shyanne Cornforth was the Mustangs big gun with 10. ESCALANTE SLIPS PAST PIUTE The Moquis closed out the first half of play Tuesday with just a one point lead at 24 to 23. But in the second half the defense took over and limited the T Birds to just 16 points, and came away with their ninth Region win, 49 to 40. Tim Hughes led with 13 and Kevin Griffin 10, while the “bomb squad” of Jace Taylor, Tim Hughes, Dalton Lisonbee, and Logan McLemore aced in 6 from beyond the arc. • Boys Basketball Region (Top Seed Home Court) Couple this new debt of with our current national debt of $10.7 Trillion ($10,775,425,260,635.87), this will put us at $11.5 Trillion. Just to let this sink in — the amount of money that the government is committing to spend this year is equivalent to the average taxpayer just writing the government a check today for $62,200. We are being bombarded by opinion on this stimulus package as House Republicans are shouting, “Foul”, and Democrats are feverishly pushing the act through. While it appears in the chart below that America’s Democratic presidents have always decreased its debt, siDE lines ....By Pat Dix benefits this loan we are all taking on. Look hard at your circumstances. I was taught somewhere along the line, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” I hope we use this stimulus as an opportunity, because it could make or break you. However it effects you, use it wisely. I predict that what we are buying ourselves is time. Does that resonate in your gut? How long have we been told to prepare and put away for a rainy day? Martin Luther King Jr, once said, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. “ NORRIS LEADS CATS OVER MILFORD. Super Senior Trac Norris, rang up another 28 point effort leading the Panguitch Bobcats to their eighth Region victory, 69 to 53 at Milford. Brookes Leach and Eric Frandsen each contributed 15 as the Cats outscored the Tigers 25 to 15 from the floor. Panguitch scored 20 points in each of the first three quarters for a 60 to 36 lead, but resting some starters in the fourth, were outscored 17 to 9. The win strengthens the Bobcats hold on second place with Escalante and Wayne left on the schedule. MOQUIS WIN AT THE BUZZER For 31 mnutes and 59 seconds of Saturday’s contest at Escalante, the Moqui’s undefeated region record seemed to be in jeopardy as the Panguitch Bobcats held the lead all of the way. And then Logan McLemore broke the hearts of the Panguitch faithful when he canned a two point shot just before the final buzzer, to preserve the Moqui’s clean slate and leave the Bobcats on the short end of a 69 to 68 score. The loss of Brooks Leach, the Cats most reliable passer and floor leader by way of 5 fouls, could be deemed the turning point of the 4th quarter as the Moqis outscored Panguitch 22 to 18. Trac Norris led all with 28 points and Brooks Leach and Eric Frandsen racked up 16 each. Esacalante’s Logan McLemore had 18, Tim Hughes and Kevin Griffin 15 each, and Kam Roundy 11. GIRL’S REGION TOURNAMENT DAY ONE LADY BOBCATS SHUTDOWN VALLEY Wednesday night at Canyon View was most definately the Kalani Norris Show, as the Bobcat’s Super Sophomore racked up 23 points, shooting 73% from the floor. The Panguitch defense finished the job, holding the Lady Buffs to 8 points or less in each of the four quarters, and cruising to a 37 to 24 win in the tournament opener. Chelsie Barney with 7, Shelby Taylor with 6, and Heather Orton , were the only other Bobcats in the scoring column. In game two it was Wayne prevailing over hapless Milford. DAY TWO PIUTE 40 PANGUITCH 32 Leading the top seeded Piute Thunderbirds by seven points after three quarters of play, the Lady Bobcats were poised to pull off the major upset of the tournament. But with the loss of Kalani Norris via the foul route, and being outscored 17 to 2 in the final 8 minutes, that dream came to an abrupt end. Both teams rang up 14 buckets from the floor, but at the Charity Stripe Piute chalked up 8 more than the Cats, and that was the deciding factor. Kalani Norris’ 20 points led all scorers and Piute’s Candace Gleave was the only other player in double figures with 12. In the day’s other game Bryce Valley defeated Wayne.
