Show THE GARFIELD COUNTY INSIDER Page 5 APRIL 12,2007 OBITUARIES Ed "Big Iron" Dunham Cannonville, Utah - Edger Lee "Big Iron" Dunham, 60, passed away on Apri 16,2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born January 19, 1947 in Panguitch, Utah to Edgar H. and Lee Ida Savage Dunham. He married Gloria Clark and were later divorced He married Dawneta Haycock and they later divorced. He married Kay Louise Mathews, she preceded him in death on August 18, 2005. He worked for Kaibab Sawmills for many years as a skidder operator and in other areas as well. He also was a rancher, enjoyed the outdoors and being with his family. He is survived by his children, Mary Lee (Hyrum) Elmer of Panguitch, Krista Lee (Denton) Sidwell of Cannonville, William Joseph (Ginny) Dunham of Panguitch, Lee Kurtis (Suzanne) Dunham of Panguitch; step-children, Lace Louann Walker and Matthew Clay Walker both of Henrieville; 11 grandchildren and one-great grandson. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and son, Eddie Clark Dunham. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the Cannonville LDS Ward Chapel. He was surrounded by his loving family. Bert was born in South Wales England, September 14, 1920. He came to the United States in 1922. He married Thora Alene Campbell on March 4, 1941 in Kanab, Utah. They were solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple on May 20, 1994. Bert and Thora loved to Square dance. Bert called for dances and jamborees until the recent diagnosis of lung cancer. He was awarded a lifetime membership and recognized as a promoter and caller of the "Hey Cedars Square Dance Club" in 2002. Bert and Thora never missed a "Hey Cedars" jamboree in 40 years. They traveled to hundreds of other local jamborees and six national jamborees in their many years of dancing. Many people throughout southern Utah learned to dance listening to Bert's voice. In recent years he enjoyed jam sessions with fellow friends and callers during his winters in Arizona. He enjoyed working with wood and wire wrapping jewelry and he loved to share his projects and talents with his children, grandchildren and many friends. He retired from Kaibab after more than 40 years of service. He worked as a truck driver for many years before serving as the shop supervisor and diesel mechanic. After 61 years of marriage he lost his loving wife on September 21, 2002. He later married Laura Faye Marsing Curtis on March 17,2006. They danced, had fiin, and shared many memorable moments in their short time together. Bert is survived by his wife, Laura Faye, of Panguitch; children: RoLayne (Joe) Davis, Lewis (Pat) Leach, Glen (Barbara) Leach, all of Panguitch; Brent (Betty) Leach of Hurricane; three step children: Jeannie (Mark) Watterson, Saratoga Springs; Gayle Thompson, Grand Junction , CO; and Audrey Grisham, Holiday; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great- grandchildren; brotherin-law, Vane (Joann) Campbell; two sisters-in-law, Ha Mae Swapp and Lauana Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, sister and grandson, Troy Leach. Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 11, 2007 at 1:00 pm at the Panguitch LDS Stake Center, 550 S. 100 W. Friends may call at Stake Center on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm and again on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30. Burial will be in the Panguitch Cemetery. Funeral Directors, Magleby Mortuary, Richfield. On line guest book www.maglebymortuary.com Beverly Williams Beverly Williams of Surprise, Arizona, peacefully passed away in the Sun City Hospice Care Center after a lengthy struggle with emphysema. She was born on March 11,1935 in Wellington, Kansas to Charlotte Martin and Kenneth Paul Liddle. She married Donald Dewey Reddick. They had two daughters, Carol Lynn (John) Orton, Panguitch, Utah, and Sheri (Scott) Stinnett, Scottsdale, AZ. They were later divorced. She then married Gerald Williams and another daughter was born, Lori Williams of Tempe, AZ. She has 11 grandchildren with another due in April, and 9 great-grandchildren. She has one sister, Carolyn (Jerry) Christy of South Carolina. Beverly was a loving, gentle and loyal soul to all family andfriendswho associated with her. She was loved and admired by the many young people who knew her. Her sweet spirit will be truly missed. One of the greatest joys in her lifetime, even with her health struggles, was to attend the Mesa, Arizona Temple which she accomplished in January of this year. We wish to thank the medical staff at the Sun City Hospice Care Center, who have assisted in her care with their gently kindness and loving ways. A viewing was held on Friday, April 6, from 6-8 pm at the LDS Church at 14878 North Verde Vista Drive, Surprise, AZ. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, Aptil 7th at 11 am at the Sun West Cemetary, 12525 N.W. Grand Avenue, El Mirage, AZ. |
