Mclnelly, age 54, passed away Friday, February 9,2007 in St. George, Utah. He was born February 21, 1952 in Richfield, Utah to Arthur Ernest and Twila Mary Moosman Mclnelly. He was the youngest of nine children and went home from the Richfield hospital to Escalante to be loved and cared for by a fun loving dad and a loving and caring mom. A.J. was one of God's special children to come to earth and live a little different than most. He was loved by his four older brothers, four older sisters and their families. Now he has gone home to be with his dad, Arthur - who used to carry A.J. on his shoulders when he was little. Now he can talk and walk with him. He has left a mother who dearly loves him and all of his brothers and sisters who love him so much. But not only that, but their families and a wonderful Danville family of terrific people who have taken care of him in St. George. So many of them have come to tell him 'bye while he was in the hospital and that they loved him. Thank you Danville, thanks for loving him and taking such good care of him. The family also expresses their appreciations to Magleby Mortuary for their care and many years of friendship. A.J. was an angel on earth. He had a mission to do and it is now completed. He was loved by many. Funeral Directors, Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guest book www, maglebymortuary. com. My sister just dropped in to give me this news flash that is just 30 minutes old. Ardith had to make a trip to Cedar City to meet her daughter from Las Vegas and give her some of her home made wedding mints. Just 6 miles North of town on her way home, a large black pig ran into her front wheel resulting in 1 dead pig and but no apparent damage to the car. She called 911 and had to wait until the Highway Patrolman arrived and then drove here to give me an account of what happened. I advised her to have her wheel alignment checked because there could be damage that is not visible. I have been told that a pig is one of the worst animals to hit with a car because of their 'low slung' build. It surely is nice to get back to weather that is more typical of our Winters after such a long record setting cold spell. With the price of gasoline still going down, you almost feel like going for a Spring drive. As far as I have been able to determine, we have the lowest priced gasoline in the Southern part of the State.($2.049) I thought it might be the lowest in the State, but I have been told that a Maverick Station in Salt Lake had it for $1,999. We may still hit that $2.00 mark here in Panguitch if this trend continues. Even with our warming trend, this Winter weather is still taking some of our older people from us. Leland Oyler (Loa) passed away a couple of days ago. Leland was 80 years of age and lived in Loa. He is the brother of Blanche Pendleton (Panguitch.) Another former Panguitch resident, Fern (Henrie) Labell lost her husband recently. Fem is the daughter of Ches and Pearl Henrie (both deceased) who were long time, long ago residents of Panguitch. Ches and Pearl taught dancing in M.I.A. when we used to have dance contests between the Wards of the Church. (This will really bring back memories to many of our older readers.) Hilma Excell recently received word from her son and his wife, Max and Glenda Excell, that they have been asked to extend their Mission for 6 months. Max and Glenda are serving in Dayton, Ohio and was due to be home soon. Max teaches adult classes at the L.D.S. Institute in addition to his regular Missionary duties. At the present time Hilma has been hospitalized for some medical observation and treatment We wish her the best and a speedy recovery if there are any problems. (I'm not sure that we can have a home basketball game if Hilma is not in her regular seat) This warm weather demands that I have a little happy news to offset the somber tone of the preceding paragraphs. Page 4 Diane Houston called to report that the children of Dorothy Houston had treated her to a 90th Birthday Party on the 4th of this month. All of Dorothy's sons and their wives and children were able to attend along with some other relatives and friends. Diane said they really had a full house and everyone had a most enjoyable time. Dorothy thought everyone was making to big of a fuss over her but anyone who has given as much to Panguitch as Dorothy has over the years, deserves to be 'fussed' over. I started my teaching career in our Elementary School while Dorothy was teaching there and I have got to go see her to see if sdhe remembers the first words she and Jean Hansen said to me at our first teacher meeting a couple of days before school began. (I'll give her answer at another time!) Our Lions Club met at the Country Comer Cafe for their regular monthly meeting (Winter Schedule) to decide on their fund raising activities for 2007. We decided to again have our usual Early Morning Breakfasts; Movies in the Park(with concessions); Demolition Derby; and 9of course, the Community Birthday Calendar. The time and dates will be listed on the Community Schedule of Events. District Governor(to be)Rick Irish reported on the State wide Mid Winter Social held at Moab, Utah on the 2nd & 3rd of this month. He and Robbie attended and really enjoyed being two of the over 100 Lions Members from through-, out the State. The only downside of the Social was the word that if both 28T & 28U don't pick up some more members we will be combined into one District. We now have 30 members in our Club which is the most we have had for some time, but we still have room for more.(This reminds me of a saying of my Dad when I would ask him how many jewels were in his large pocket watch.."Seventeen and holes bored for more.") Rick traveled to Laramie, Wyoming for some training meetings on the 7th, 8th , and 9th of this month. Panguitch probably has another 'first' to claim. I realize that we once had an elephant that could fly because I saw it in a movie and now it looks like we may have jackrabbits learning to fly. One of our power outages last week was caused by a jackrabbit laying across one of the power lines. Greg Payne took a picture of it and said that it is the first time he has heard of such an occurance and was the most difficult one he has ever had to find. (Global warming probably had something to do with this.) I received an E-mail from Caroline (Foy) Robinson telling me how much she enjoyed reading the Knothole and the Panguitch Connections. She sent me two (2) Panguitch Connections, but I am going to save them for another Knothole as this one has reached the limit that I usually try to stay within.
