Show EverylCounts What is Your . Bible Telling ji eoplin Sarah makes it a point to tell you she drives a "BMW" instead of merely saying in conversation "car." Mike catches a fly ball during a baseball game and then pumps his chest. At summer camp, no one will hang out with Rebecca because she is a "homosexual." Instead she is bullied. Even though Bart and Justine have seven grandchildren, everyone knows Susan's their favorite. Every year at Christmastime, in front of their six other grandchildren, Susan opens up at least 10 more presents than her cousins. Chuck was cooking dinner when his wife, Tiffany, walked in. "What's for dinner?" she asked. "Chicken and cream of mushroom?" "Did you ask us what we wanted?" Tiffany said referring to her and her daughter. Chuck, dumbfounded didn't say a word. But Tiffany sure did. "Don't cook anything for us unless you first ask us what we want for dinner!" she exclaimed. Dr. Mike, an OB-GYN, is pretentious toward his staff. He wonders why his staff is unhappy and why his patients complain. What you say or do, as in the above examples, can have implications and not in the most positive, productive or meaningful ways. Take the BMW example. Does a person really need to know that you drive a BMW? I love Sam Walton, the founder of Wal-Mart. Emcee Blunder The Ancient Castle The conference emcee announced, "Next we have the chief of the Minnesota State Patrol, Roger Ledding, who is here with his lovely wife, Beverly." The chief took his place at the lectern. "I'm a little nervous," he began, "getting up before this distinguished audience and speaking today. But not nearly as nervous as I will be tonight when I must go home with my wife, Audrey, and explain Beverly to her!" A group of American tourists were being guided through an ancient castle in Europe. "This place," the guide told them, "is 600 years old. Not a stone in it has been touched, nothing altered, nothing replaced in all those years." "Wow," said one woman dryly, "they must have the same landlord I do." GOLF CHEAT The Lawyer's Plumber Sitting at a table in the clubhouse A pipe burst in a lawyer's house, so he called after a game, Joe said to a fellow a plumber. It Makes Sense...By Veda Hale I got a warning sent to me, telling anyone not to use their cell phones when they are being recharged. If a call comes in, to unplug before answering. If this is true, that they could explode, then I better take note, because I have done that more than once. I so often let the thing run too low and only remember to plug it in when I think I might need it. Another warning came my way. This one about heart attack in women and it sounds like just what my mother did, which was nothing until too late. It said: " 1. Be aware when something very different is happening in your body. A heart attack likely won't have the usual men's symptoms but inexplicable things happen (often it is pressure under sternum and pain in jaws). It is said that many more women than men die of their first (and last) MI because they didn't know they were having one and commonly mistake it as indigestion, take some Maalox or other anti-heartburn preparation and go to bed, hoping they'll feel better in the morning when they wake up... which doesn't happen. My female friends, your symptoms might not be exactly like mine, so I advise you to call the Paramedics if ANYTHING is unpleasantly happening that you've not felt before. It is better to have a 'false alarm' visitation than to risk your life guessing what it might be! 2. Note that I said 'Call the Paramedics.' And if you can take an aspirin. Ladies, TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE! Do NOT try to drive yourself to the ER - you are a hazard to others on the road. Do NOT have your panicked husband who will be speeding and looking anxiously at what's happening with you instead of the road. Do NOT call your doctor -- he doesn't know where you live and if it's at night you won't reach him anyway, and if it's daytime, his assistants (or answering service) will tell you to call the Paramedics. He doesn't carry the equipment in his car that you need to be saved! The Paramedics do, principally OXYGEN that you need ASAP. Your Dr will be notified later. 3. Don't assume it couldn't be a heart attack because you have a normal cholesterol count. Research has discovered that a cholesterol elevated reading is rarely the cause of an MI (unless it's unbelievably high and/or accompanied by high blood pressure). MIs are usually caused by long-term stress and inflammation in the body, which dumps all sorts of deadly hormones into your system to sludge things up in there. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know the better chance we could survive. Lots of things out there of which to be scared, and we women have an easier time feeling scared than men. However, I did meet a courageous woman this week. She lives up to the lake and her husband died recently. I thought surely she wasn't going to stay there this winter, but she said she was. I can imagine her children spunking about that and finally saying that if she insisted to at least get a little dog. That she did and it is a cutie. After getting myself "stuck" with a pup, I can imagine her caring her puppy and being too busy enjoying this new kind of companionship to get very lonely or scared. I do admire her.
