Santa's little helpers: Claudia Crump, Cary Englestead, Barbara Marshell and Roxanne Harris, Elaine Baldwin who backed up Pat, Kelly and Shawn, made the day a success. All who purchased, donated and served will make this a Merry Christmas for some delightful boys and girls. Thanks from Santa. Boy was it a great week. Not all was wonderful; Panguitch lost a great friend in Pat Dix. Today, Thursday, November 17th there is the 3rd annual Constitution Bowl at Bryce Valley, it starts at 9:00 a.m. Panguitch has won the first two Constructional Bowls, however this year Valley and possible Piute will be taking part. What makes this so great is both Bryce Valley and Panguitch High School, whole student body studies the Constitution and the Amendments and all students get involved in the competition. This event makes learning fun. Thanks Mrs. Rember for allowing the time spent on a very worth while event, and thanks to Natilie Perkins, for all her efforts in making everyone more knowledgeable, in their rights, that are guaranteed in the Constitution. Last Monday practice started for basketball, boys and girls and wrestling for the boys. The girl's team starts off first with a tournament at the Sevier Center on Nov. 20 and 21. They will be playing in the Hall of Fame game @ SVC on Nov. 24. It looks like as in the volleyball season, Piute is going to be our main competition. Escalante will have a girl's team this year, after a year off, good luck to the teams and have fun. The boy's team play their first game on November 25 @ North Sevier. The teams first few games are away, so get a car pool going and get out and support the teams. Wrestling kicks off the year with the Panguitch Tournament at the Triple C Arena on December 4 and 5th. If you are a fan, this is a big event with more than 20 teams competing. Congratulation to Coach Clint Barney, he is the 1A Coach of the Year. I am going to try and fill in for Pat Dix in his Sideline column, I know there is know way I can take Pat's place, but I will try to report the scores. Coaches if you would like your scores in the paper, give me a call at 676-2418. Next Thursday is Thanksgiving and being a holiday you will get your paper on Friday, so this will be the last notice on the Lions Sponsored Thanksgiving dinner. Dinner will be for all; kids included. Come out and enjoy some excellent food, fine company and entertainment. It will be at the senior center from 2:00 to 5:00 pm and there is no cost. So why slave over a hot oven, come on down. Please call so we know how much to order. 676-2418. Mandy and Josh Soper have a new baby boy. He has a great head of pitch black hair and is cute little guy. Youth will develop a sense of generosity through kindness, service and compassion towards others. We would not be able to carry out this vision if we did not have the AWESOME volunteers of Garfield County. We want all the mentors, mentees, families and the advisory board members to know how much you all mean to us. We thank you for all your support! If you would like to be on our advisory board or are interested in contributing time, money or resources, please contact me.
