COSTING VISITORS TO BY PAT DIX THREE BOBCATS NAMED TO ALL STATE TEAM The Panguitch High School Baseball team, whose season ended with a loss in the state semi final game, place 2 players on the IA All State 1st team, and one player on the second team. Cameron Leach, who set a new State record for the most base hits in a career with 139, was named on the first team as a pitcher. The Bobcat's home run leader, Tyler Pollock was the only catcher named to the 1st team. Brady Barney, the Cat's fine southpaw hurler who pitched a near perfect game in the quarter finals, was named to the second team as an outfielder. All in all Region 15 was well represented, with 7 of the 12 All Staters coming from our Region. And of course the MVP Porter Ellett of Wayne made it 8. The Garfield County Volunteer Center would like to ask you... Would you like to help individuals and families in your community? Would you like to learn a new skill? You can do this by volunteering to prepare tax returns to members of our communities! Volunteers receive free online training from the IRS to become a certified volunteer tax preparer. Training varies from 16 to 24 hours depending on experience and can be done anywhere with an internet connection. Training will take place during the next few months and is FREE. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteers are trained in simple tax law with an emphasis on credits, in particular the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), benefiting many in their community, including families. Volunteers will be trained to file returns electronically, set up direct deposit and use special tax preparation software. Volunteers are asked to serve three hoursa week from January 16,2007 through April 15,2007. Tax preparation will take place in Panguitch, Tropic and Escalante. £RYCE ^ANYON SINCE Volunteers are needed to cover each of these volunteer locations.
