Pat Dix BOBCATS WIN A PAIR AND DROP TWO AT HILLSPORTS IVITATIONAL Friday, at 10:00am Panguitch opened the Hillsports Invitational at Canyon View’s field. At the end of three innings the Cats led 4 to 1, but as in their last confrontation with the T birds, a porous defense and some mental miscues , and the Bobcats were down 6 to 4. Riley Miller started on the hill and was again the undeserving victim, giving up only one earned run in his stint. Brooks Leach came in to put out the fire and threw 3 1/3 inningsof shut out ball. Fridays nitecap was even more nightmarish, as Westridge blew out the Bobcats 12 to 1. Panguitch could manage just on hit, a solo home run by Dexter Humphreys. Once again the defense left much to be desired. the one bright spot being a triple play turned in by, Zach Brophy, Brooks Leach, Cameron Fawson, and Riley Miller. Saturday, versus Dugway the curse seemed to be lifted as the Bobcats smothered Dugway 21 to 2. A combination of Cameron Fawson, Brandon Birch, and Dalan Bennett sat Dugway down with only 2 hits ans 1 earned run. Brooks Leach was hot with the bat going 4 for 4 with 3 singles, a home run, and 3 runs batted in. Sam Vasquez contribued s single and a double, in 2 plate appearances, with a pair of runs scored. Satudays nitecap featured a pair Reion 15 squads, Bryce Valley, and Panguitch. The Mustangs had just come off a 10 to 8 win over a tough Westridge nine. The Bobcats opened with a single run in the first inning, off of Dexter Humphrey’s scarifice fly.. The game remained scorless until the Bobcat 4th when they squeezed home another run on a sacrifice fly by Kaden Figgins. And then in the fifth the Cats broke it open with an 8 run scoring spree, to end the game on the 10 run rule, 10 to 0. Brooks Leach was in complete control on the mound, allowing no runs, and only 1 hit, while the Cats defense came to his aid brilliantly a pair of plays. STORM CAUSES OUTAGE IN GARFIELD COUNTY Garkane Energy Customers in Garfield County experienced a short power outage Thursday, August, 13, 2009, due to severe weather conditions, which hit the area. Storm conditions with heavy rain, lightning, and wind caused outages through-out Garfield County. Lightning caused a relay to go bad in the Henrieville substation, which was bypassed and later replaced. This opened the transmission circuits going east and west from the Henrieville substation. “We are indeed grateful for any moisture a storm brings. However, hard blowing winds and lightning cause problems for power lines,” stated Rob Wolfley, Garkane’s Garfield County Area Manager. “During any storm, our crews work under extremely difficult conditions in order to restore power to our customers. We appreciate their efforts, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience this power outage caused.” These Summer storms are welcomed for the moisture they provide, but for Garkane, any storm should serve as a reminder to plan ahead for the inevitable weather-related power outages. Garkane reminds its customers to choose an easily accessible closet or cupboard for an emergency supply of flashlights, batteries, and other needed items. Interested in playing Tackle Football?
