The town now is in danger of having us water labelled not approved by the State Board of Health unless improvements are made. The existing Dtv iston of Health rating for the system is "classification pending. Meadow now- serves 102 connections supplied from two springs and a Lone Cedar Springs standby well. to needs redevelopment prevent bacterial contamination periodically detected in the town's water. Other serwus deficiencies are quantity and pressure due to inadequately sized lines. The feasibility report heard by Board members recommended installation diameter supply of 55.000 feet of and distribution pipe, 7,600 feet of YOU 1HTRT! distribution pipe, a 300,000 gallon concrete storage tank, 14 fire hvdrattts and redevelopment of Lone Cedar Springs. This would provide all residents with an adequate culinarv supply, allow the town to double its population, improve fire protection and bring the system up to State Board of Health standards. The report, prepared by the State Division of Water Resources, suggested the project could be financed through a 5211,000 grant from FmHA, StiO.OOO loan from FmHA, 592,000 grant from FCRC, SfiO.OOO loan from the Board of Water Resources and an initial town investment of 52,000. The present 55 minimum monthly water rate would jump to 58 to produce enough revenue to retire cither general obligation or water revenue bonds purchased by the Board at a rate of $3,400 annually for 18 years. Town residents now must approve issuance of the bonds at an election and other technical requirements need to be met before Board members can commit funds to buy bonds to be issued by Meadow.
