Show RuilOsI) KaHTs by Dathel Whitaker Irene Paxton attended funeral services, in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 9 for her brother, Cecil Fairbanks, who passed away, August 5 at the age of 68. Irenes daughter, Merodean Williams, flew down from Den-fo- r her ver, Colo. Uncle Cecils funeral. Cecil is survived by a wife and four children; a sister, Theo Fogg of San a Bernardino, brother, Coy Jay Fairbanks, of Las Vegas, and his sister, Irene, of Kanosh. Taft and Maurine Paxton are happy to have their daughter, back home Tonya, a following again delightful months trip to Europe with the BYU tour. Tonya will be teaching again this fall at the Orem Elementary . School. She accompanied her cousin, Trish Rappleye, up north, who had been a guest of the Paxtons over the weekend. Trish has employment in Provo, Utah. Taft and Maurine spent a recent weekend with their son, Frank, on his ranch which is near Carlin, Nevada. Adelia Cortsen and her two daughters, La Rita and Lillian Sullivan and Lillians two daughters, Marica S. Roberts, and Connie S. Clivio, spent the weekend in Kanosh. Seeing three cars s parked by Aunt home Saturday, as they were passing through Kanosh, Frank Barney and wife, Ray, stopped to visit and to Frank take pictures. took a picture of the Rutherford home next door, which was the Barney home when he was growing up in Kanosh. Frank and wife were on their way to Springville to visit their married daughter and family there, then on to Wyoming to see their oldest daughter, who had twin girls about a month ago. There has been a lot of activity at the home of President Lloyd wife and George Leola lately. They have had all of their family Ad-elia- here. The George family met at Delta with the Burnis Finlinson family on Sunday, August 7, for a reunion, at the home of Janet (George) Finlinson. The important event of the date was the blessing of the baby daughter of Janet and Lynn Finlinson by her father and who was given the name of Michale Finlinson, which makes four children for them. While the George family were here, they held a 3 day family reunion at Lake Powell. Ed and JoAnn (George) Red and two children, Traci and Ann Marie from Albuquerque, N.M. have been at the Georges for two weeks. Richard and wife, Jennie will spend a month with his folks before their departure to Boston, Mass, where Richard will work on his MBA at Harvard. Steven George, son of Bishop Ray, and wife Sharon, had a most exciting privilege of attending the National Boy Scout jamboree at Moraine State Park in Pennsylvania. While in this area they toured D.C., Washington, and Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Penn. The Owen and Melba Staples family reunion was held during the weekend August at College Cabin up All Cedar Canyon. eleven of the Staples children and most of the grandchildren were present, making around 45. Rhea (Staples) and husband, Jim Middle-toof Mesa, Ariz. and their . daughter, Mary Jan, attended church services in Kanosh Sunday. Mary Jan attended summer school at BYU and is now ready to graduate. Her parents will oe attending her graduation shortly. Sacrament meeting following Sunday, Stake Conference, was conducted by Dean Perkins. Business: The baby son of Boyd and Denise (Staples) Christiansen was blessed and given the name of Ryan John Christiansen, by his father. The Juanita Charles-wortfamily reunion was held at Big John's Flat up Beaver Canyon on the weekend of JuanAugust itas five daughters, husbands, and parts of their families enjoyed the cool of that beautiful area. The flowers were taken to the home of Lola, where she made up 15 beautiful arrangements in w hich category she is so talented. Thrill and satisfaction came to her and others who helped of hcr rangements won the Grand Sweepstakes prize at the Fair. She spent a week with her sister , and Reed Utand Darlene Utlevs had The ley. attended a reunion of the Brower sisters and their families in Provo August 6 and Ruthmary returned to Wyoming with them. Reed is a very enthusiastic rodeo man, so Darlene and Ruthmary attended two rodeos last week. Reed visited Saturday by telephone in Floweil with his brother Clem Utley. Ruthmary- spent brother-in-law- a week visiting in year. Coming from Illinois for the reunion were Brower Fitzhusband, Ray, gerald, and son, Patrick. Pat Allen spent a couple of days last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Allen, David, Sheri, Marlene, and Kevin Christensen and little sons. Melvin and Lorraine Whitaker attended a farewell missionary Utah in Kaysville, hcr for nephew Sunday Kelly Nielson, who is the son of Merritt and Wanda. At the Sacrament following meeting, Lorraine was happy to visit with many of hcr family members who were there. Dexter Anderson and went children to Springfield, Oregon last week to bring his wife, Laura Lee, and baby home. She went to visit her parents, Elmer and Orpha Chase, and brothers. Laura Lees mother is in very poor health. Grandma Irene Anderson of Provo and Aunt Anderson Merrily helped out in the home while Laura Lee was away. Mrs. Rex Allen and children spent August in West Jordan with her Edna mother, Hogan, then drove on to Orem where they were overnight guests Friday of her husbands sister and brother-in-law- , Cldrice and Royal Hurd, and family. Allen and Teresa to went Alldredge Idaho Falls August 11 to attend the Temple wedding and reception for his good friend, Brad Gardner and bride. Allen was best man. They bought Teresas sisters, Melanie and Patricia Roberts, home with them for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. John Sevey and son, David, Provo, attended a reunion here and then went on to California to visit his sister and family. Carol knows how much I love to browse through beautiful china and glassware, so she asked hcr boss if she could take me through the show room. He told hcr to take me through it and let me pick out what 1 wanted. She said, Boss, you dont realize what you have just said to me. You have never seen my mother when she is turned loose in glassware. He said, You only sec her once a year, so just let her enjoy herself. We stayed two days and nights with our granddaughter, Diana Millhench, and two children. Billy is seven years old and said he was the Monitor at school. Brandi Lee is his sister. She is four old. years They both like to jump in the pool, which is at the first level of the apartment building. As we only sec the children once a year, w e miss so much enjoyment of their childhood. They spent a month here in Holden two years ago. That was the first time either of them had ever spent and sisters, Clyde, Lynndyl; Reed, Walla Walla, Wash.; Mrs. Lela Steel, Mrs. Louise Bentley, SLC; and Mrs. Manilla Moulton, Provo. Funeral services were held Monday in the Ward Lynndyl Church. Burial was in Leamington country. any fjme ;n July 2nd we went to Hcmit. Now that is one HOT place. It gets to be almost 115 degrees. We wanted to visit with Elizabeth Dennis, a wonderful little lady 93 years old last June 10th. She is such a darling little woman. We call her Grandma. Grandma is in bed all the time and has to be cared for, but her mind is very alert. She remembers Will Swallow with his lovely little old fashioned store, one that you can sit on the stool and have a cone of ice cream. We called Val and Pilve in Dagmire Romaland, not far from Hemet, that we would be in Hemet. Jim and Val used to work together in Los Angeles. Val came and took us home in their car as we did not know where they lived. We had a lovely visit with them, their daughter, Juta, and her two children, daughter, Karen, and son, Willie. The Pilves have visited us twice since we moved to Holden 1972. Would you believe that in the three weeks we were gone that when we got home we couldnt find the garden for the weeds? Jim has really been pulling the weeds since our return, now he says he knows where all the rows are. I dont mind telling you right here and now, when 1 got home and took my first drink of our wonderful tasting water, I said, There is nothing like it. And to be able to look up into the sky and have it so lovely and clear, seems like we can almost reach up and get a handful of stars. Anyway, what I want to say is, It is so nice to be back home.
