Events will include the Millard Count Fair, a riding club meet of seven clubs, fair, style dress revue, demonstrations. contests, concessions, fashion show, favorite food show and an open air dance Friday night. The fair officially opens at 10 a.m. Friday until 8 p.m. It will be open the same hours Satu rday. The Pahvant Riding Gub will host riding clubs from Payson. Goshen. Ncphi and Santaquin in arena race parade through the drills, contests, stock events etc. The grand entry wilt be Friday night at 8 p.m. and again Saturday night. We were surprised, nearly all read the bank ad and found M.D. with the other initials. Thats the last time we tell our trade secrets!!! Joyce Dcarden was the winner this week. She got six of the seven clues, so won S5 Merchandise Certificate. The clues included Julie, Jill. John, Suzanne, photo-graphy, new and M.D. So we have a new contest this week. The Grand Entry will take place at 8 p.m. Friday. Featured after the entry will be the arena race events. This will be followed by a dance on the tennis court. Music will be provided by Neil and Rosemary Forster. Admission is SI each; S1.50 per couple. Races will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday. At 2 p.m. there will be rid ing contests. Saturday at 8 p.m. the Stock Events will be featured. These will start off with a parade through the arena with Miss Millard County and her attendants at 7:30 p.m. The grand entry will be at 8 p.m. with ribbon pull, calf roping, dally Team Roping. One of the fastest growing sports in this area, the Demo- lition Derby, is being planned for Au8- - 30 at the Fillmore fairground. fhis is the third such event held in Fillmore, sponsored by the Elks Lodge No. 2420 with its some 350 members serving the communities of South Central Utah. Jim Nowling. Derby Chairman said applications are now being accepted from drivers and sponsors. About 30 cars and drivers from all over South Central Utah are expected to participate. The entry fee is $25 until Aug. . 18 and $30 after that date The demolition dcrbvs htio in the past have attracted one of the largest crowds to attend an' event at the local fairgrounds in several years. This years Nowling said crowd is espected to be larger. It affords thrills and outstanding entertainment for the entire family. Scottorn did the lettering and art work on the calendar now displayed in the window of the First Security Bank. With cooperation. your Joyce and Ro.ann will calendar Fillmores events each month. Joyce suggests you mail to her any activity being sponsored during the following month by the 20th. She needs the name of the event, sponsor, the date and time. One of the purposes of the Fillmore Civic Arts Council is to schedule and calendar The Fillmores programs. Council is grateful to the pair for this service ' our community. Multi-purpos- With six weeks remaining Governor Calvin Rampton has proclaimed the week of Aug. 10 through 14 as Utah Jeep Search and Rescue week. The week will end with the State Convention which will be held in Fillmore this year. The organization is made up of Posse and Sheriff Deputies organizations from throughout Utah.
