including the city pay roll were ordered paid the bonds of several of the new 0 acers presented and approved by the mayor na ILL HAVE LIBRARY BUILDING councilman hopes presented a r solution pledging the city to secure a suitable site for the proposed car n ilie library and also gu guaranteeing the expenditure of not less than 1000 per 5 3 ear for the ma of the same fhe flie resolution was unanimous ly adopt d As stated in our last issue mr carn cabog g e offered to donate 10 for a library building as soon as the council passed the above reso lut on at the last election the tax payers voted in favor of a special tax for library purposes and as this tax will brit g in more than enough money to maintain the new library the councilmen all favored the above resolution councilman hopes reso lution lotion also contained a clause to the effect that the mayor appoint a corn com cittee of nine to act with him in the s selection lection of a suitable site for the new library building robertson of salt lake to look aft r the catl cit a s interests in the case of cureka city vs N ferran do this case is now in course of trial in the district court and accord ing to the terms of the contract which was drawn up and signed on saturday night the above law firm will handle the case to final judge ment ANOTHER ADJOURNED MEETING G the council then adjourned until monday morning at 9 0 clock when all members of the council were present at this meeting city council man W F handed banded in his resignation and mayor stack appoint ed elijah bowen to the office the appointment was confirmed and mr bowen a bond duly approved mr benver was elected to the long term two years ago and consequently his successor mr bowen will hold office until the first monday in january 1910 NEW OFFICERS ARRIVE promptly at noon the new mayor andrew mitchell and other officers arrived and before introducing h a s successor mayor stack made a brief speech he told what work the re publican administration had accod within the past four year how they went into office with but a few hundred dollars in the city treasury and with a bonded indebted ness of 16 hanging over the city bow how this indebtedness had been cut down to 2000 and at the s ime same time the tax levy greatly reduced mayor stack also called attention to the re building of the water sa system stem and other improvements and then intro deuced andrew mitchell the new socialist mayor who responded with a neat little speech mayor mitchell then called the new council to order and the roll call show showed edall all members present as follows william tite charles zabriskie rasmus nelson W W freckleton eton and elijah bowen miss mooney the new city recorder then read the minutes of the a s meeting and councilman freckleton made a motion that no action be taken upon the minutes until the next regular meeting the republican members of the council being in the majority voted in favor of the ap of the minutes mayor mitchell then brought up the matter of ap point menta ments and name of wesley morton for night watch man mr I 1 freckleton reck leton made a motion that the appointment be bre confirmed but councilman tite made an amend ment to the effect that the matter be left until the next regular meeting on january the amendment car ned ried A motion to adjourn coming flam the socialist side of
