School Board President Ronald Nelson, presented each of the teachers with a Certificate of Recognition, given by the Utah Rural School Conference, for the exemplary program which they presented at (lie conference on The program, July 19, 19 called INSPIRE, recognizes students and awards them for outstanding efforts. Other agenda items included the following... Bill Hansen, building maintenance director, presented the Board a maintenance list for the campus and buildings, which he feels needs attention. He explained that he and the superintendent will iook closely at the items which they feel need to be dealt with in the near future. The list will be prioritized and then a three to five year maintenance plan will be formed. Supi. Rowse recommended thai Tintic use Ncbo School District U; do the maintenance on the nuses. The Board voted to have Nebo School District do the maintenance this year, after which the cost and service will nc evaluated. School Andy Cindrich. Community Resource Director, lhanked the Board for the services being provided to him. He explained that he docs work with lie .At Risk Population i through a 'Family Preservation Grant'' Cmdricn works with students tr. the Juab County schools. He presented the Board with a "Student Survey Form" which, if approved, would be given to students. He explained the survey would be given with the purpose of formulating a plan oil how to best work with and help the students. Hie Board agreed to review the survey form. Communication from Board Members followed: Mary Lou Draper expressed concern about the litter and garbage which has accumulated on the fences at Tintic High School, and was told (hat the matter will be looked into. Student Dcidra Cornish, for Board Member, reported from West Desert School, saying that (lie sound pancis which iiave been installed in the gym. are very much appreciated. She asked about a completion date on tnc baseball field. The superintendent said that the field would need to he leveled first before (he backstop and fencing can be installed. Dcidra conveyed the message from West Desert Elementary, that they are looking forward to the additional modular classrooms. It was reported that plans and construction for the new classrooms are on schedule and should be ready in October, ed by stall members ,o hang m place of the other painting. Brenda Sutherland. The Board recommended checking with other school districts that have provided me Medigap coverage lo employees and its effectiveness, and also with EMIA on the difference in the Medigap plans available. Supt. Rowse reported tna: Riley O'Neil, elementary guidance person, is walking out very well at Eureka Elementary School. He is working in the classroom and working witn the teachers in developing curriculum. He is also working individually with some students. The recommended superintendent approval for a parent permission form, giving O'Neil permission lo work one on one with their student. After review of the form, permission was grained by hoard members. Board members were advised that a request had been received from the ACLU for policies on Student Clubs. The that reported superintendent Tintic District does not nave a policy in place at this time, and that die District is in the process of revising the district policy. As soon as there is an adopted policy pertaining to Studem Clubs, ;ht policy would he made available to ACLU a' 19. Dr. DuFour would like to meet with board manners and parent representatives from each school prior to the inscrvicc and go over some of the same information that the teachers have received at their worksnop The group will then schedule to nice', with teachers to gc over the Mission Statement being designed for each school.
