UTAH STATE PRESS ASSOCIATION Mr. and Mrs. Ted Colovich and family were in Spanish Fork on Christmas Day, where they were dinner guests of Mrs. Colovichs sister and Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Bradford. On Sunday they drove to Salt Lake where they attended a family dinner at the home of a brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford King. bro-ther-in-la- (Continued from Page One.) Mrs. Irvin Hillman entertained the Sewing Circle at her home. The afternoon being climaxed with a turkey dinner and all the trimmings. Mrs. John Morley Jr. and family of Provo were in Eureka visiting with the formers parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Morley Sr. The Pep Club of Tintic High School received their uniforms for the year. They were cadet style done in the school colors of blue and white with matching pill box hats. The cheer mistress, Betty Mikesell and Dwana Wheeler had uniforms of same style but opposite colors. The THS basketball team 4 on the local beat Lehi a fine bunch Tintic had floor. of players who were hitting the ball as far as basketball was concerned. This was the final game on the local floor and the remaining games were to be played other places. John Hannifin of this city had been appointed by Judge Hoyt, as a jury commissioner. Mrs. Frank Garrity and Mary Frances were in Provo, the performance. attending '"The Messiah," presented by BYU at the LDS Tabernacle. Directors of the Mammoth Mining Company declared a dividend of 5 cents a . share. secretary Roy A. McIntyre made the announcement at a company meeting. The dividend amounted to 020,000. The dividend just declared n, 23-1- pre-seas- on was the first for 1940, however the earning came from the operations in 1939. During the year there had been three dividends of 5 cents a share amounting to 15 cents a share. The Mammoth was the oldest dividend payer in Tintic District The city council held their final meeting for the year 1939. Carlson, Lionel Fairbanks and John ORourke, two year councilmen and due to Mayor Dean Beck would be there likewise and. Maynard Cronin who was elected from two year councilman to four year councilman. H. E. McClain the holdover councilman would occupy his regular place at the table. The retiring officers ' were Clarence Bauer, Frank Briskey, and John Coffey, councilmen and Flossie Carlson, recorder. The Lady Elks held their annual banquet with husbands of the members being special guests. It was one of the outstanding social events in the history of the organization and following the banquet cards and other games were enjoyed by seventeen couples. The entertainment committee of the Tintic Lodge of Elks were planning their annual New Years party at the club rooms New Years five. A banquet held at 8 o'clock followed by special entertainment features and a dancing party to start at midnight were to be the feature. All Elks and their ladies were invited to attend. The Womens Benefit Assn, were entertained by Mrs. Elizabeth Castleton at her home. During the evening election of officers was held and the following were named: Mrs. Elizabeth Phizachlea, president; Mrs. Hannah Johnson, w, re-electi- on vice-preside- Mrs. Margaret Free-th- nt; y, financial secretary; Mrs. Agnes Beck, recording secretary; Mrs. Theresa Viertel, treasurer; Mrs. Mary Fitzgerald, chaplain; Mrs. Margaret Harrington, lady of ceremonies. Following the business session cards were played. The Tintic Sunbeam Camp, daughters of Utah Pioneers met at the home of Mrs. Josephine Towers. Twenty were present and enjoyed games, a program and delicious luncheon. Christmas gifts were also exchanged. Coach Taft Watts boys met their first defeat in the seventh game of the Tooele with winning year They were again defeated by Wasatch Academy at Mount Pleasant in an exciting game, the score was 37 to 36. Under the direction of Miss Gertrude Church, a Christmas assembly was given at the THS Auditorium. The ones taking part were mostly from the eighth and ninth . grades. A Christmas dinner was given by Supt. Alex Blight for the members of the Board of Education and employees of Tintic School District. The dinner was served by the advance home economics class under the direction of Miss Gertrude Church. The schools of the Tintic District were closed on Dec. 20th and were to resume on pre-seas- on 25-1- 7. Mr. and Mrs. Le Mar Lester and family of Evanston, Wyo., were over-nigguests Christmas at the home of Mrs. Lesters parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Rose in Mammoth. Other members of the family home for the holidays were Miss Jeanette Rose and Walter Paulsen, and Miss Dorothy Fol-gof Salt Lake. ht er Mr. and Mrs. Charles Warren were hosts at a buffet dinner Christmas Eve at their home here. Table decorations were carried out in the Christmas motif, and those attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rostrom of Mammoth, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Jensen and two boys, Kearns; Mr. and Mrs. David Rostrom and two children of Sandy, and Mr. and Mrs. James Brady and son Ray, of Santa-quin. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Warren and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rostrom made a trip to Kearns Tuesday where they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Jensen and family. They also visited in Sandy with the David Rostrom family. Mr. and Mrs. Orlando (Ike) Ilopkin and daughter Theresa of Kemmerer, Wyoming, were over-nigguests Saturday at the home of Mrs. Mary A. Stack and Clare Larsen. Theresa is attending Boise Junior College. ht Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lucas returned to Tucson, Arizona, on Sunday after spending the holidays here with their son, Mike and Mr. Lucas mother, Mrs. Margaret Lucas and the Sterling Burraston and Glen Knotts families. Another son Danny will return to Arizona later in the week. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Dunkley and family of Franklin, Idaho, are spending a few days in Mammoth at the home of Mrs. Dunkleys sister and brother-in-laMr. and Mrs. Howard w, Mc- Intyre. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Lee and three daughters spent Christmas Day here with Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Lee and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Nash. Other holiday guests at the Lee home were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Regis, Price; Mr. and Mrs. Max Lee and daughter of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Rex Lee and two boys of Sunset. LDS Stake News Teachers and officers of the Stake enjoyed a Christmas Social at the Stake Center on Saturday evening. The program, which featured a pageant adapted from the "Real Story of Christmas, by Cleon Skousen was under the direction of the Stake Primary with Jennie Murdock conducting. Wanda Colovich led the Burtis Jameson was accompanist. Games and dancing were under the direction of Douglas and Lucille Thomas. The Sunday School, under the direction of Wendell was in charge of refreshments. Forty five Relief Society Sisters were present at the Annual Christmas Party of the Second ward Relief Society on Monday enjoying an afternoon of entertainment. President Beulah Bradley was in charge. The Christmas motif was carried out in attractive decorations and refreshments. The program consisted of a ladies sextette, piano solos, a harmonica solo, reading, story and Christmas carols. Prayers were by Leonda Morgan and Dessa Horrocks. Elder Clifford Bradley, rethe cently returned from son Mission of and Norweigen Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Bradley game an interesting account of his experiences in Sacrament meeting in the Second ward on Sunday. MiaMaids and Explorers held a Fireside at Goshen on Sunday Dec. 27 under the direction of Walter Kirby and Louise Mecham. Richard Murdock conducted and Nancy Livingston and Linda Larson conducted the group singing of Christmas carols. A reading was given by Ronald Bird. Speaker of the evening was Raymond Curtis, a recently returned missionary. Refreshments were served. Prayers were by Pat Penrod and Clair Okelberry. A New Years Eve party will be held Dec. 31 at the Genola ward under direction of the Stake MIA. It will begin at sing-ing.M- rs. Le-Bar- on . - 9 p.m. A Special Youth meeting will be held Jan. 3 in the Nebo Stake Tabernacle for all youth and youth yeaders of the Santaquin-Tintic, Juab and Nebo Stakes. A youth chorus is preparing special music for the occasion. Those participating in the chorus are asked to be there at 5:30. The regular meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Airs. Alaude Alclntyre of Mammoth is spending the holidays in Santa Monica, Calif., with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Crezee. Potts and were Sheila in Payson daughter a Sunday attending family dinner at the home of Mr. and Airs. Roy Wightman. Among those present were former residents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Richards and two boys of Ashland, Oregon. Mrs. Richards is the former Stella Adams, a sister of Mrs. Potts. Air. and Airs. Earl Roger Bandghart left Mr. and Mrs. Norman Schow and small son Kevin Michael and Fred Roberts left Monday for Mt. Home Air Force Base in Idaho after spending the Christmas holidays here with Mr. and Mrs. Welling Schow and Mrs. Margaret Cronin. The menfolks are stationed with the Air Force. Mrs. Schow spent the past two weeks here and her husband joined her and the baby Christmas Eve. Air. and Mrs. George Gillespie of Riverton, Wyo., spent the Christmas holidays here with her parents, Mr. and Airs. Vincent Montoya. Other guests on Christmas Day at the Montoya home were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith - of Santaquin. Mrs. Smith is the former Carolyn Montoya and Mrs. Gillespie is the former Anna Marie Montoya. The Gillespies left for Wyoming Monday afternoon. - Mrs. Ethel Donnelly and Mrs. Elva Bonner returned home on Tuesday morning after spending the Christmas holidays in Salt Lake City with Miss Ella Donnelly and other relatives. Air. and Mrs. Albert Johnson of Green River, Wyo., were in town for the Christmas weekend spending the time with her mother, Mrs. Ada Randle, and other relatives. They left for home Sunday afternoon. Nick Treloar of San Francisco was home for the Christmas holidays visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Treloar and with his sister and family, the Ralph Hopes, who were visiting here from Wyoming. Nick returned to the Bay City Monday morning. Air. and Airs. Harold Naef and two children spent the holidays in Lander, Wyo., with her parents. They returned home Tuesday. Air. and Airs. Howard Gard- ner who are residing in Salt Lake City for the present, are back "home for a few days visiting with friends and Mr. Gardner is doing some work for the Boyles Brothers Drilling Company. They expect to be here for about ten days. Air. and Mrs. Ralph Hopes and three children returned to Riverton, Wyo., Monday after spending the Christmas holiday here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Treloar and Ralph Hopes, Sr., and daughter Miss Helen Hopes.. Air. and Airs. Ed Webber and family of Provo were here for Christmas where they were the dinner guests of his mother and aunt, Mrs. Wilma Webber and Freida Ohlsen. Two of the Webber children, Jeannie and Johnny and a friend, Jackie Brimhall remained here for fur- ther visiting when the family returned home Christmas nite. Ted Hannifin of Aloab spent the Christmas holidays here with his brother and family, the Brennan Hannifin family. Air. and Airs. Tues- day morning on a business trip to Santa Fe. He plans to be away for a couple of days. Ralph Hopes, Sr., and daughter Helen were hosts at a dinner party Saturday of last week for Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hopes, Jr., and their three children who were home for the Earl Dunn of Nephi spent Saturday evening visiting at the J. J. Coffey residence. Guests over the Chirstmas weekend holidays at the home of Mrs. Maude Hillsdale were her sister and brother-in-la- w, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson and their daughter Mrs. Sergei and family of Salt Lake City.
