Show Pngr l'ivr Church report The Eureka Reporter St. Patrick's Catholic Church A Methodist Ladies Dave Garbett conducted and presided over the 5 p.m. meeting at the Eureka LDS Bishop Chapel. The music was under direction Norma Jameson at the organ, and Wanda Colovich conducting. The opening prayer was by Denton Bartschi. It was announced that a Stake Conference would be held on August 30 th and 31, at Santaquin. It was also announced that 50 bushels of apples are available d for sale at the Jim De Home in Santaquin. of Graf-fenrei- Garbett, Jr. was presented to be ordained to the Aaronic Priesthood as a Deacon. Eloise Young was sustained as a work director in the night Relief Society. Julie Boswell of Goshen was the speaker for the evening. She had just returned from an LDS Mission. Benediction, Kirkham. Richard Several members evening. the United Methodist Church drove to Lehi for their regular meeting on Monday evening of this week. Sloan talked on Christs encounter with "the woman at the well." At the close of the meeting the hostess served a delicious lunch to members, Edna Jasper, Patricia Brady, Frances Ewell, Janalee Evans, Sandy Evans, Mabel Butler, Virginia Randle, Vola Nevers, Mary Newman and Alliene Farren, and Rev. Sloan. The next meeting will be on November 8th. Steel Auxiliary United United T Methodist off-whit- Senior Citizens met Wed- nesday Oct. 6, in the Memorial ' Building. The meeting was called to order by President Clara Bates. The opening prayer was given by Lorin Thompson. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by the members, God Bless followed by America. Happy Birthday was sung to Mary Thomas, Hy Schmidt and Ada Schmidt. Lucille Riley was the accompanist and Georgia Laird led the singing. The Secretarys report and the Treasurers report were read and approved. The Senior Citizens will hold a Bazaar on Friday, October 15th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A Halloween Party will be held on Saturday, October 30th at 6:30 p.m. The members donated $10 to the Community Kids Fund. After the meeting a delicious lunch was served by Clara Bates. She prepared it for toots and Carl Field, as they were hosts for the meeting. It is proposed that Article IV of the Constitution of the State of Utah be amended to read: Sec. 1. The rights of citizens of the State of Utah to vote and hold office shall not be denied or abridged on account of sex. Both male and female citizens of this State shall enjoy equally all civil, political and religious rights and privileges. Sec. 2. Every citizen of the United States. 18 years of age or over, who makes proper proof of residence in this state for 30 days next preceding any election, or for such other period as required hy law, shall be entitled to vote in the election. Sec. 2. Every citizen of the United States, twenty one years of age or over, who has been a legal resident of this state for six months and of the county for sixty days next preceding any election, shall be entitled to vote in the election, except that in a presidential election year persons who make proper proof of residence in this state for thirty days immediately preceding the Iasi voter registration day may register and vote for a president and of the United States vice-preside- nt only. Sec. 3. In all cases except those of treason, felony or breach of the peace, electors voters shall be privileged from arrest on the days pf election, during their attendance at elections, and going to and returning therefrom. Sec. 4. No elector voter shall be obliged to perform militia duty on the day of election except in time of war or public danger. Sec. 8. All elections shall be by secret ballot. Nothing in this section shall be construed to prevent the use of any machine or mechanical contrivance for the purpose of receiving and registering the votes cast at any election: Provided, that secrecy in voting be preserved. Sec. 9. All general elections, except for municipal and school officers shall be held on the Tuesday next following the first Monday in November of the year in which the election is held. Special elections may be held as provided by law. The terms of all officers elected at any general election, shall commence on the first Monday in January next following the date of their election. Municipal and School officers shall be elected at such time as may be provided by law. Sec. 10. All officers made elective or appointive by this Constitution or by the laws made in pursuance thereof, before entering upon the duties of their respective offices, shall take and subscribe the following oath or affirmation: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support, obey and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this State, and that I will discharge the duties of my office with fidelity." Section 2. The secretary of state is directed to submit this proposed amendment to the electors of the State of Utah on November 2, 1976 in the manner provided by law. Section 3. If adopted by the electors of this state, this amendment shall take effect on January 1, 1977. |
