Volume EUREKA, UTAH - November 23, 2001 Ninety-Si- x Justin lnJall Chosen as torch hearer The Eureka Reporterreportcd in May that Justin Wall, son of Doug and Jeannie Wall of Spnngville and grandson of Don and Noel Wall of Eureka, was nominated as a torchbearer for the 2002 Winter Olympics. Justin received notice last month that he was chosen as a torch bearer. Justin was nominated by his school in Provo, Oakridge School. His teachers said he was a perfect model to have as a torchbearer. Justin received a letter via federal express last month that notified him that he in fact was chosen a torchbearer for the Central Utah region, which means he could carry the torch anywhere between Cedar City and Provo. Proud grandma, Noel Wall, said, Were really excited. Its a neat thing. The Walls attended a ceremony last month in Salt I .ake celebrating the torchbearcrs. Milt Romney came and spoke to those attending. They also attended a celebration in Provo earlier this month for the Central Utah torchbearcrs. At that ceremony, they talked about each torchbearer in this region. November 12,fc at 7p.m., Chris Dever from Justin Wall Price $.40 the Sage Riders Motorcycle Club presented the city with a check for S600.00 and the Tintic Historical Society a check for SI 00.00. They thanked them for allowing them to come liavc the race. There was a public hearing before the city council meeting for the abandonment of an alley way. Myron Carpenter brought a letter from the pifcate judege that expalined what needed to doen done. Mayor Conder read the letter to the council. It stated that the abdonment of the alley should be done by Eureka City. Council Member Pagnani stated that Lee Gourley wanted to buy the property 5 years ago and was denied. Pagnani suggested they table it for a month until more research could be done. The Council voted to table it for one month. Council Member Pagnani said that he looked into Lyman Davis's information on his water bill and found that he should be charged for 12.000 gallons. The Elementary plans annual council voted to amend his bill to 12.000 gallons. Animal Control Officer reported that he had got a lost puppy back to its owner, gave 5 warnings in 7 days and only 4 responded, got a hold of Provo Animal Control Officer on devices for dogs, received several complaints without a lot of details, and asked the EPA to return a dog to Goshen that they found there and brought here. Mayor Conder read a memo from a Eureka Citizen. The memo stated that there is complaint for the city officials and their employees. He feels that the animal control officer is being partial to those whos dogs are picked up and to those whos dogs are not. If you are going to pick up some dogs then you should pick up all of the dogs running loose. Mayor Lloyd Conder stated 1 that a lot of people dont know what is going on. You need to come to city council to know what is taking place. He said he knows the dogs are out of control. Lynn Elliott stated that he is just doing what the mayor has told him to do.
