Show Page Four - The Reporter - April 28. 2000 Town talk On April 1st, Cleo Judge departed I mm llie Carefree office mi the Carefree bus w iUi Tom and Sue Colins in charge. After en- joying the scenic ride via I: vanston and Rock Springs, tliey enjoyed their first night in the Mile High City. The second morning, they staed in Burlington. CO and stepped hack in time at the Old- town Museum. They spent the 2nd night in Newton. KS. The next day they visited the ('harming Chapel designed hy Samuel Butcher, creator of "Precious Moments" tigurines. They shopped and then enjoyed "The Fountain ot Angels Show." The water show was spectacular. Then on to Branson. Alter dinner at McDutleys. they went to "Presley's Mountain Music Jubilee." Day four, they were entertained in die morning hy a I tali group, "The Hughes Brothers." in the afternoon hy the Platters, and in the evening hy the "Branson Fcst at the Mil Tides - Theatre." Day five was enjoyed hy "Jennifer in the morning," afternoon "Country Tonight," dinner at the "Dinner Bell." with music while they ate and enjoyed the Comedy of "Jim Stafford.: The sixth day hegan with "The Lennon Brothers" then "Dino" toped off the evening with "Shoji Tabuchi show." The lighting and technology was outstanding and even more so during the Dino and Shoji shows. The next day they left Branson for the Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas. They stayed in a beautif ul old hotel and visited some of the many hath houses that have been there since 1910. From Hot Springs to "Tyler Tx," with a stop at Kilgore where over 100 oil derricks once were. They visited the "East Texas Oil Museum." a town was reproduced. complete with men in the shops. By pushing a button, a tape explained what was happening. Everything was so real they were Liken hack to the hoomtime days. Then on to San Antonio, miles and miles of bluebonnets and other wild flowers carpeted the highway drive. After seeing the State Capitol of Texas in Austin, the arrived in San Antonio for a two night stay at tlie Paco Del Rio on the San Antonio river. Early morning a local guide showed them the South Texas hill Country City and intrigued them with it's history. Tliey stopped at 1 Market Square and tlie SAS show store. Almost everyone bought new shoes, some more than one pair. The Alamo completed the sightseeing foilwed by dinner and a boat ride to see tlie night lights of the river. Up and on their way to Fredericksburg, TX, tlie Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park, covering 672 acreas wicli includes the LBJ Ranch, which tliey visited. Then tliey visited tlie Admiral Nimity Museum. They all came away with a greater understanding of WWII and renewed respect and devotion for those who fought it. April 12, they headed for White City New Mexico. On tlie way they saw "Paisano Pete," tlie largest roadrunner. In the evening, tliey were entertained by Granny at the Opera House. The next day to Alberquerque Party time for teens Springtime means proms, spring break and graduation-pri- me times for teen parties. AAA Utah knows parties are an important part of teenagers' lives, but a poorly planned party may result in unwanted, even tragic consequences. Drugs and alcohol arc the biggest troublemakers at any teenage party. An overnight arrangements should be discussed before the party with both your teen and the host's parents. If you and your teen are hosting a party: - Set ground rules with your teen before the party. Stress the shared responsibilities for hosting the party and let your teen know what you expect. verify the party location, offer to help and make sure a parent will be present and alcohol and other drugs will not be permitted. - Know how your teen will get to and from the party. Discuss the choices your teen has for transportation. Assure your teen that you or a specific adult friend can be called on for a ride home.
