Show Page Four - The Eureka Reporter - April 24, 1998 Town talk Among the approximately enthusi2000 asts participating in the 32nd ve Annual Easter Jeep Safari at Moab. were Robert and Shcrlin Grill of Eureka, and Mark and Jane Dean and their two children, Tyrcll and Kaylci, of Riverton. Utah. For Robert and Sherlin. 1998 was the 6th year they have participated in the event. Around 5,000 visitors descend on the town of Moab each year for the safari, .people from every state in the Union with the possible exception of Hawaii.. as well as visitors and participants from other countries. The Grand County "fundcrland" features about 30 trails over miles and miles of rocks, roads and grandiose vistas. Anyone viewing the video tape, photographed by Shcrlin and narrated by Robert, would be amazed at drivers of various types of vehicles.. making their way up steep slick rock; traversing rocky paths while spanning a ravine; slipping and sliding up a muddy hill; inching over waterfall rocks (sometimes with only one wheel on the ground); driving over trails with such names as Dome Plateau (1,700 feet above the Colorado River); White Knuckle Hill, Poison Spider, Golden Spike, Strike Behind the Rocks. Ravine, Moab Rim and Gold Bar Rim. Robert Grill has traversed most of the aforementioned trails without mishap.. a tribute to his driving skills and his knowledge of the equipment needed on his vehicle to make it more maneuverable. While Tyrcll spent his time along the trails with his father and grandparents. Jane enjoyed her time at the Pack Creek Campgrounds, taking care of one-year-o- ld Kaylci. Easter visitors at the home of Leona Franks, were Mary Franks and two daughters. Kristin and Erica, of Salt Lake City. Later in the day, the foursome along with Brandon and Traci Snell, enjoyed a lovely Easter dinner at the home of Ray and Eileen Schow.
