The race started at 8:00 a.m. with the mini and women bike racers there was 18 entries. The first overall win went to Tooeles Bart Abbott. Our local. Bill Hansen came in as the first 80 novice and 5th overall. Bill also leads in points to be the first 80 novice racer in the state of Utah! The minis ended by 9:30 a.m. with alot of compliments and smiling dirty faces. For the big bike race, there was a hare, Brandon Gerber of Lehi. He got to start the race 5 minutes before the mass start and whoever caught him received $100 cash donated by Carpenter Station. By 10:00 a.m. there was 94 entries with one being Terry Giles of Sandy, Utah and another two being our own locals. Brad Chambers and Mike Renzello. The mass start was off by 10: 15. Don Grieve of Salt Lake City had caught the hare by the second loop. Don was in the spotlight all day for he lead the race from the start and came in for the 1st overall win. The whole day went beautiful and the Firebirds were given many compliments on a very thought out, prepared, and fun race. The Firebirds were very pleased with the race , and received many pats on the back for a race well done. But most important, there were no injuries. Even though the race took alot of hard work, with long hot days marking and cleaning up the course and pit areas, the Firebirds had alot of fun, but it couldnt have been done without some of our Eureka Citizens, so from the Firebirds, we would like to THANK YOU, especially Eureka City, West Juab Ambulance, Jeep Patrol, Land Owners and Loop Chairmans. you think you property would sell appeal to the board of equalization within thirty days or by the date on the notice.
