That doesnt sound very exciting, but Turnow is skillful enough to plant curiosity in his readers and then wait until the last page to let the pieces fall into place. This is a novel about values, and love and hate. It speaks to the heart about vanity and the imaginings of the ego. It is subtle. It is insightful.
