She was born February 2, 1911 inMercer, Utah, thedaughter of Lewis Miles and Elizabeth Steel Whimpey. She married Paul E. Smith on October 13, 1935 in Long Beach, California. He died in June of 1969. She married Harold May on July 30, 1983 in Star Valley Wyoming. She was educated in Eureka and Santaquin Schools. She worked as a pink lady for Payson Hospital for i (UPS-179-62- 0) George S. He was educated in the Eureka and Goshen schools and attended the University of Wisconsin, at Madison, Wis. He later received an associate degree at Utah Technical College, Provo.
