Show I George Q Q Edwards Succumbs At 8 86 Funeral on Saturday George Q Edw Edwards 86 died at ati atthe the Sanpete Hospital in Mt Pleasant on Tuesday evening evening evening eve eve- ning Feb H He had been in inthe inthe inthe the hospital for several days following following following fol fol- fol- fol lowing a stroke Mr Edwards was born Feb 17 1881 in Sterling a son of James Peas and Catherine Petty Edwards His early childhood was spent in Sterling where h he attended the public schools and helped his fath father r with farming He later moved with ith his f family family fam fam- mily m- m ily to Emery where he met Emma Emma Emma Em Em- ma Serene Williams They were married November 4 1904 in the Manti Mant Temple He and his family family family fam fam- ily lived at various times in Emery Idaho Falls and Delta where he was engaged in the sheep business farming fanning and in mining During their m married years 15 children were born to Mr and Mrs Edwards Twelve of these preceded him in death Ten died in infancy one at the age of five and one at 17 His first wife died in 1938 On June 5 1942 he married Orpha Dorius of Ephraim He and his wife lived in Ephraim until his death Both Mr Edwards Edward's parents and grandparents were among the first Latter-day Latter Saint immigrants immigrants immigrants grants to cross the plains and come to Utah Shortly after arriving arriving arriving ar ar- ar- ar riving in Salt Lake City they were sent with the first group of Saints to settle in Manti His grandfather Elish i Edwards was a personal friend of the Prophet J Joseph Smith and both his father and grandfather helped help help- ed to o build the Manti Temple George Q Edwards was an active member of the Church holding the office of high priest in the Ephraim West Ward at the time of his death He had held many church positions during his lifetime being superintendent superintendent super super- of the MIA and Sunday Sunday Sunday Sun Sun- day and serving for many years day and serving for many years ears as a ward and home teacher Survivors include his widow one son Maeser G. G Edwards Bountiful l two daughters Mrs Reed Ina Starley Burley Ida and Mrs Catherine Jones of Bountiful There are seven grandchildren grandchildren grandchildren grand grand- children and 14 great grandchildren grandchildren dren Funeral services will be held Saturday Feb 10 at 11 am a.m. in the Ephraim West Fard The viewing will be Friday evening in the Buchanan Mortuary in Manti and on Saturday morning morning morn morn- ing in the West Ward Relief Society Society So So- Society Room from 10 am a.m. until the funeral services Interment will be in the Emery Cemetery r.-o. r. y |
