L Nielson r Native Of Manti Dies In Truck Crash Bennett Lynn Nielson 30 of Centerfield was found dead early Saturday in the crushed cab of his up pick-up truck about 22 miles so southeast of Salina alongside Highway 10 which goes through Salina Canyon He was a son of Stanley and Edna Munk Nielson of Ephraim but had lived in Centerfield the past few years where he had extensive farming and livestock interests Mr Nielson was in Ephraim Friday and picked up Phenor Petersen Peterson whom he took to the winter sheep range on the east desert to be with his brother Cassady Petersen herder for Mr Nielson three The The three had supper together at the sheep camp and then Mr Nielson started fo for r rhome home about 8 p. p pm p.m. m. m The camp is about 30 minutes drive from the highway and Mr Nielson had come about a 15 minute drive along the highway when the mishap occurred His mother reports that he apparently apparently apparently dozed and the truck went along the shoulder of the road for some distance then struck a post and w went nt end nd over ver end lighting on its top in a creek bed to the right of the highway The cab was crushed and Mr Nielson apparently died instantly instant instant- ly of a broken neck The truck loaded with grain did not catch fire When Mr Nielson failed to return home Mrs frs Nielson supposed supposed supposed sup sup- posed he had decided to stay at the sheep camp over ove night and sand so did not worry about it A passing motorist reported seeing th the the wreckage about 9 a a. a m m. Saturday probably about 12 hours after the mishap When officers arrived at th the scene it took some time to pry the thc victims victim's body from the cab An undertaker told relatives that the body was frozen the victims victim's mother said I Bennett Lynn Nielson was born Dec 11 1928 in Manti ManU He attended Ephraim schools and graduated from Snow Col Col- lege He married Nevada Siler March 16 1949 in Richfield They lived in Ephraim for a few years before moving to Center Center- field Survivors include his widow two sons and a a. a daughter Bennett Bennett Bennett Ben Ben- nett Chad 6 Niles J. J 5 and Cassia assia Jane 15 months all of Centerfield his parents of Ephraim Ephraim Ephraim Eph Eph- raim one sister Mrs Nedra N N.
