one of the few judges in utah who are natives of the d str act over wh eh they preside mr M enoksen was born in mt pleasant 01 sept 80 1863 and it cannot be said that he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth his parents were poor and at the age of 13 he was thrown upon his own resources to fight the battle of life the three Rs reading r ting and nth was about all there was to the common school curriculum and it was no easy thing at that time to master these meagre pling unaided to satisfy a vigorous appetite apo etite and clothe a growing body enery and ambition however triumphed ai d 1882 3 and 4 saw mr enoksen enrolled as an enthusiastic in the normal and commer cial departments of the Y college at provo aftel graduating he taught school in mt pleasant for five years and at the same time read ing law for which he had a natural bent then followed a course in law at the university of michigan at ann arbol where he crowded two vears work into one because of preparation before return ing home he was admitted to practice law becore the u court of the wolverine state returning to utah he was elected d justice of the peace of mt pleasant before he w s 25 ers of age then fol lowed a rapid advancement be n ely elected county attorney county collector cashier of the mt Plea art commercial and savings bank and mayor of his native tov n 9 being the farat democrat ever elected in mt PIea sint for quite a period of this time mr erick sen had not engaged in the active practice of id v but kept his mind well trained for future begil requirements re en gagin in the active practice of his profession he was later m 1900 nom bated by the demo cratic party to make the race foi judge against jacob johnson and though running 1000 and more ahead of h s ticket he w as 1 ea en in 1904 he was again nominated and while other democrats lured deep in avalanche of the roosevelt snow alicc mr end sen overcame a majority of over 2000 for the head of tha ican ticket and won out over wm D liv by 11 votes how satisfactorily impartially and has filled the office is shown by his unanimous re nomination not only in his own district is his ability and integrity recognized but in
