Show all campa agn ons for elec tion of Congre emen to be report ed to clerk of the house washington the mccall campaign publicity bill was unanimously becom mended to the house tor passage on tuesday by the committee on elec alon on president vice president and representatives in congress though introduced by a republican the re port had the undivided support of the democratic members of the commit tee and of the national publicity law organization it was the subject of much spirited discussion in the corn cittee and the action in recommend ing the bill for passage caused jubala alon among the minority of the house and some surprise on the republican side the republican chairman of the committee mr balnes W va hav ing recently expressed himself as opposed to some of the provisions of the measure the bill provides that all hereafter made to bollt leal campaigns engaged in promotion of the election of representatives or delegates to the congress of the unit ed states or of presidential electors at any election at tives or delegates shall be voted tor shall be reported by such committees to the clerk of the house of represent the bill was so amended that any person may in connection with such election pay from his own private funds for the purpose of controlling or influencing in two or more states the result of an election at rep in congress are to be elected all his traveling expenses he mav pay for stationery and postage and for telegraph and telephone ser vice without being subject to the pro visions of the act |
