Show 6 Spor Is 1984 89 Pre-vie- After Season week-lon- g camp cheerleaders bring home blue ribbons CEU Kastern Utah's cheerleading squad recently returned from the United Spirit Associations collegiate cheerleading camp with 27 blue ribbons and a trophy naming them as one of the top groups in the Western United States. The camp was held at the University of California in Santa Barbara. After the week-lon- g camp College of college category to win their trophy. They competed and learned routines in jazz, rock, pom pom, kick and dance. The squad also attended classes in and daily competitions, the CEU cheerleaders were announced as one of the top squads and given straight superior ratings. The camp has over leadership showmanship, training, routine construction, 100 schools competing from all of the Western States including California, Utah, weight conditioning, leaps and floor work, creative sideline steps, technique fundamentals and choreography training. CEUs mascot, Emmett the Eagle, competed in the camp Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Arizona, Texas, Tennessee and New Mexico. CEU competed in the junior and brought home a spit it stick besides several first place ribbons. CEUs cheerleaders will make their opening debut at the Eagles home game Saturday, Sept. 15. The squad includes Jil Bennett, Monica Seventeen returning College of Eastern Utah Eagles will form the nucleus of the 1984 football team, announced head coach Chris Peterson. Returning to the quarterback position is Jamie Barton, a Chicago, 111. native. Barton saw some action last season and should help the Eagles in their throwing game. Chris Chiaro, a Cherry Hill, N.J. native will join the backfield while the 6-- 1, Willie Cain, a Chicago native; Greg a Morton, Penna. native; and Kevin McBroom, a Columbus, Ohio native.
