Show 2 Thursday, June Emery County Progress 15, 1978 Conventions Road poses hazard (Continued from page 1) Efforts by the boys parents to locate the bikes were futile. Luane Wilson, Evans mother, placed a makeshift barricade across the stream and notified the county sheriffs office. The next day the sheriffs office posted the road with a warning sign. Mrs. Wilson said additional canal water had been turned into the stream and melting snows had also swollen the stream. The smoothness of the water across the concrete dip is deceptive. A pipe diverting water to a nearby ditch may have created a whirlpool effect which helped carry the boys into the pool. If they had not been strong and shape they could have drowned and we would never have known where to look for them, Mrs. Wilson said. Residents of the town are accustomed to traveling the road and taking the dip as a matter of course. in good physical Safety hazards of the dip were fully revealed until spring runoff. The danger will subside as the waters go down, but will reappear seasonally and during flash floods. Officials say replacing the dip with a bridge would be costly. not jJ Card of Thanks 1 t . dear friends in Emery and Carbon County 4 who remembered me during my illness in the 4 hospital, with cards, letters, and flowers, send To my I Arrest made in J I burglaryman A has been arrested by Emery County& Sheriffs detectives charged with the burglary of an Emery mining office.
