Grant to the effect that all religious gatherings were postponed until further notice. The last wave of flu locally Is about Cleared up again, it seems, most of those under quarantine last week now being free to go their way. Most of the cases seem to have been real light dtoes this time. Last Tuesday night was the coldest night ofifcjhe past week, the mercury Setting down to 12 below zero. It has moderated some since then, having eased up 5 degrees by Thursday night when it was 7 below. Lieut and Mrs. W. H. Bash, former, ly of Huntington and more recently of Sunnyslde, are back In Eastern Utah, the doctor having secured his discharge from the army.. He enlisted In the medical corps last summer. Leo Kenney, chief clerk at Mohr-lan- d was in the Dale on business yesterday. He reports no flu whatever In that camp, and only ten cases on the whole calendar. Things are humming along nicely up there, according to him. Lieut. T. C. Hill, better known as' plain Doc, is reported to be on his way back to Huntington friends in particular and county friends in general, extras for his car and other things ship, ped by him in advance of his coming having already made their appearance. Mr. and Mrs. Clell Pettey are entertaining a fine boy at their Hiawatha home, the youngster having made his right welcome appearance on the 3rd. And Tapa Pettey lost no time in going to Ferron to get mother to go up and see if the young chan wasn't riarht un to the mark in every way. MAY IT BE EQUALLY SO THIS IS THE HAPPIEST NEW YEAR IN HISTORY. PEACE AND PROSPERI. OF FOR YOU AND YOURS, AND MAY THE BLESSINGS TY BE YOURS IN ABUNDANCE FOR 1919. Because a recurrence of Influenza has been noted in some communities of Utah and southern Idaho from which students are drawn, the date of opening the Utah Agricultural college has been postponed from January 14 to January 27. The winter quarter will be shortened so that it will probably end late in March. Though definite plans have, not been worked, out, received New Year Start the is Your Right-He- re Opportunity -- it Is expected that provision will be mad for Graduating seniors in the spring or shortly afterward. Death by disease claimed another Emery county soldier lad this week, J. Houston Brown of Green River having fallen a victim to at Camp Kearney. He was one of the last of the drafted men to leave for camp and will be remembered as having spent several days in the Dale just previous to his departure, having made a trip by horseback to Ephralm to visit with his sister, Mrs. Orange Olsen. He was familiarly known as "Buster" in Green River and 'nearby, and had a host of friends. H. G. Margetts, who has had charge of the many reclamation projects in Millard and Sevier counties, was in the county yesterday and made a cursory examination of some of the waterlogged lands, finding conditions even ' worse than he had anticipated.' He is to report his. findings and prepare recommendations on the local situation with a view to establishing a drainage district In the county. He is associated with R. Ai Hart, chief federal drainage engineer for the district, , under whose direction several experiments in the vicinity of Huntington have been conducted. Emery 'school will open Monday morning, according to report. Rochester school Is already going, and Green River and Mohrland have never discontinued school. What will be done locally Is a question yet, it appears. If it is considered at all safe, we should like to see the schools started first of all. Pleasure gatherings can wait but school time lost is Irreparable. A careful check on the first trace of sickness of pupil or in the home could be kept by the teachers and other authorities, and. with the vaccination of pupils proffered by the school board, considerable pf the expected evil from starting might not influenza-pneumon- " I This Week's Specials ia $2.50 FLANNEL SHIRTS ..' 35c PINK AND BLUE OUTING 26c '- - 25c APRON GINGHAMS ; ........12 l-- 2c - - ....- $2.48 OVERALLS $1.69 .$1.48 MEN'S HEAVY WINTER UNDERWEAR FLEECED SHIRTS AND DRAWERS AT 69c A GARMENT OR $1.25 A SUIT.
