Show Emery County Progress Castle Dale, Utah Tuesday April 10,2001 7A CHOOLS Winners in the morning session of the Emery County Music Teacher s Association Festival. tudemts take part in music festival The campus of the College of East- ern Utah was the scene of the annual Emery County Music Teachers Association Festival on March 24, when more than 100 piano students merged to participate. Students have been preparing all year for the event. Every student is evaluated in five different areas of music study. Pi- ano teachers adjudicate the four areas of Sight Reading, Technique, Theory; and Listening. A fifth area. Performance, was adjudicated by Debra Fowles of Sandy, and Lisa Farr of Perron. A morning and af ternoon session was held to accommodate all students. After each session, an honors recital was held for the students who placed in the Performance area. Outstanding students in the morning session were: Kindergarten 2nd grades: Jennifer Anderson, -- Aubrie Oldroyd, Hailee Rogers, and Markette Tanner. 3rd-5t- h grades: Jessica Larsen, Nikki Rogers, Tayler Tanner, and Derek Tuttle. h grades: Heather Hansen, Michelle Johansen, Megan Rogers, and Stevie Stream. The afternoon session outstand lith-St- SRJH students look forward to authors visit books. Mr. Mecham will be the advisor of the quiz bowl at Carbon High on April 10 and on April 11 the quiz bowi will be at San Rafael Junior High. Canyon View students are involved in intermural volleyball until April 1 1 . In preparation for his visit, librarian Dianne Butler, has spent many class periods introducingthe Sasquatch. Nelson recently returned from a trip to Mongolia, where he is doing research for his current project, which is a book on Genghis Kahn. Durrant is also spending time teaching all the 9th grade geography students about Kahns life so they will be better prepared for Nelsons visit.
