bunnell death had been expected for s ae time past for mr had suffered a stroke of paralysis a year or more before causing his left arm and hand to pain and d tress for the past few weeks hs suf feied much A few days bufore hi death he realized the end was near and pissed a vay in perfect peace funeral services were held monday afternoon in social hal the tage and of which abie n belv acor abed for booro one of utah s earliest 11 d busiest citizens fiti zens cassed to his eternal rest born in pamer hamilton county mass on july 21 1827 the son of I 1 than and sarah W moore mr moore when but a youngster began journeying westward with his parents and before he was a doen vears old and for two score years thereafter all the bitterness hardships and ons of a life on th frontier the cruel attacks of a salape foe and a warfare against his rel bious faith in 1835 he was baptized in the mormon faith at kirtland ohio in the charn river by I 1 imon sherman and was later corf amod by orson and heber kimball A year later 1836 he went to Nauvoo and in 1812 18 12 was into the famous nauvoo lesion and w u at the fr arne building when the prophet joseoh smith preached his list sermon in february 1846 he left kauv oo 00 with the ir tillery company ind on reaching the missouri river enlisted with the mormon battal on leav ing a widowed mother behind and set out for california two yeara later he came from california to utah he be came a resident of pleasant vie v where ho married marnette starr in 1850 who only lived a few montha in 1853 he married el zabeth cath blied who survives him rom utah county he was called to iron county to assist in settling rg up that territory and where himself and others had ganv fierce fights with the ute indians he was albo a baldier in echo canyon and a guard at the mail station foi many years mr moore was shifted around from point to point by the church authorities in the indian wai service for he was known as a brave and re man as an indian fichter he lived at mt pleasant and spring city in sanpete county for several ears in 1885 he came to emery coun tl settling in lawrence an 1 for som time was its pi residing elder latel he was made the bishop of the ward which office he held for ten years and gave splendid satisfaction in 1905 he took up his residence in with his daughter mrs S D bunnell on ac count of his wife s poor health besides his w adow there ive h m enree sons joseph lou s and earl and two daughters mrs marietta ban nall and mrs nellie reynolda db also a brother joseph of moab and two s s mrs elmina duke of vernal and mrs mary barker of salt lake city deceased was a devoted husband a kind father and a good beigl bor H s was a basy and useful career and he lavesa record that his posterity may feel proud eleven years while he was bishop of the lawrence ward as his councilor he was set apart as b shop in the same build ng in Cast ledale that his funeral was held in I 1 believe that all who lived in the ward under his leadership v ill agree with me tt at he was a fath er in very deed I 1 with brother moore have been called out of bed in all kinds of weather and at all times of night to 0 o and administer to the sick but he never complained although he was not ible to go some of the time without h s rane we hav e traveled fro n house to house all n when there was need of it which has been tl
