Show THE FOURTH WELL spent the fourth of july celebration was a success at Cast ledale the program that we published last issue was well carried out at sunrise the glorious old flag was hoisted on the flagstaff of the courthouse the Cast ledale band played to the hoisting i f the flag the star spangled ban ner and followed with several belec eions on the public square after which they mounted the nand wagon and serenaded the town for about two hours with good music at about 9 45 the people had gathered at the public square where under the direction of marshal of the day F M reynolds the parada was formed consisting of the Cast ledale band neatly dressed in sailor costume marching in the lead with uncle sam as drum major then followed the goddess float with miss zepha lund as the goddess of lib arty who looked very beautiful then the etab float consisting of miss mabel seely as fair utah together with the counties represented by a lot of little girls dressed in white this was followed by citizens etc the floats were nicely decorated by the floats committed s the parade marched through principal bart ets of the town to the beautiful strains of the band after the parade a meeting was held in academy assembly hall where a nice program was well rendered ren dared as follows music by the Castl dale band singing america by the choir and congregation led by chorister hector alvans prayer chaplain john Y jencen bunging choir reading of declaration of G F hickman S A orchestra of liberty depre rented by miss zepha lund election patriotic Cast ledale glue club bleech utah represented by miss mabel oration hon orange seel star spangled banner sung bv miss I 1 mma anderaon An derbon speech by uncle sam represented by ach livingston Living stor jr singing by choir music Cast ledale band Prayer Chaplain J Y bensin the sports and gamce in the after noon were drawing features the children were given a dance in the afternoon in the globe hall after which followed sports and games for the chil dren on the public square under the direction of the sports and games corn cittee A ball game followed between and clawson teams ending in a victory for Cast ledale by a score of 10 to 4 in the evening dances were given in peterson s hall and also at the globe liall both being well attended we must say that an excellent feature of this year s celebration was the good music rendered by the Cast ledale band the bivs connected with the tion worked hard in the short time had for preparation and were quite liberal with their music during the celebration of the nation s birthday |
